Do orks know what a daemon engine is. And if an ork mek built a battle wagon or stompa or something out of chaos scrap, would they know if it was possessed or carrying a daemon ?

For that matter is it possible for them to loot a daemon engine like a defiler or a mauler fiend whole ?

I've never seen the fluff really address it to be honest.

In the novel Baneblade wasn't the ork pysker stompa tainted? I can not remember with certainty.

I think they would know what a Daemon Engine is if you pointed to it but they wouldn't explain it beyond "Chaos thing".

No, I don't think it was tainted. The Imperials just referred to it as a "Witch Engine" as it was a Psyker stompa. Not that it was tainted.

As for if an Ork would be able to tell.... I have not a clue. Something just tells me that an ork Mek would just be "Dis scrap feel funny... dem spiky boyz did sumtin to it.... best melt it or burn it or sumin...".

Orks can loot anything.

Anything.

I have absolutely no idea about this BUT it would be amazing to be honest.

I mean if the Orks could build daemon engines and stuff they'd msot likely be able to use the deamon powers and so on, would be even more awesome.

I can see orks killing a daemon engine
I can see orks trying to loot a daemon engine, but here is the thing, if the daemon is still there. How are they going to control it. Control it ala squigagoth? Daemon engines have different desires and motivations from large beasts of burden. It 'could' work, but it probably wouldnt.
If the orks killed the daemon, are were left with the metal hulk of it. I can see the orks going about adding in orky tech to fix it(in some cases having to replace nearly all of the insides and half the weapons). That would look like a daemon engine, but would it really be one?

They wire a Boy into it and then stick a steering wheel in his head and drive it that way.
