Today, I battled SW with my GK using the current codex (Crowe, Coteaz, Henchmen, Psybacks) for the last time.
SW got badly beaten. Cheers.
To be fair, SW have never been able to handle GKs well. My Daemonhunter book even used to pound the brand new 5th ed SW into dirt.

Stealing from the vanilla marine codex is the easiest solution, and the least effort I would expect.

Brand new units would of course be very welcome, and there's tons of room for creativity here as Grey Knights have the best technology and the best psykers. I often hear people wishlisting for Jetbikes in the Fast Attack Slot, for example.

But rumor has it there are no new units and the leaked images so far show only old units. We're all aware that usually the new models are front and center in the PR materials.

So I'd expect some theft from vanilla marines, since we all know something is needed, despite a couple posters in this thread seemingly thinking assault is the solution to all problems in the current meta

Assault isn't the solution, but it is an inevitability.

I've never had an assault-less game.

Way to simplify the arguments. Is it equally true to state that others think unit theft is the solution to all problems in the meta? Do me a favor and read the posts fully before belittling them.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Actually, it would be fair to say that unit theft is the solution to all problems in the meta.

I could only wish, as a Grey Knights player, that they would for some reason put the Wave Serpent into the codex.

Frankly, I agree with you, taking the vanilla only units and diluting their uniqueness would be lame. But stripping a codex of half its units and leaving it in an almost Sister of Battle paucity of choices would be even more lame. So I'm speculating we'll see something like a "Psyfire" cannon, etc. Given Games Workshop's record of making wise choices though, you've probably nothing to worry about though :(

You guys do need to admit though that your defenses of the current setup are a bit silly though, there are many gaps in the current codex that could use additions. We're not talking about one of the older codices with eight choices per FoC slot, any one of which can have its rules updated into an excellent tool for some shortcoming in the meta.

I'm not defending leaving the codex as is or its gaps. I'm fact I've admitted its inability to kill hordes at range and consented that granting it predators, vindicators, and even Whirlwinds would be fine. Hell, take land speeders of all varieties too. These are things accessable by DA, SW, BA, and vanilla marines. Only fair that GK get them. What I don't agree with is taking an exclusive unit, only found in one book, and giving it to another codex to fill its gaps. Ally if you want that. I suppose my hesitation stems from the fact that GK take vanilla marines and supercharge them, and I'm loathe to see a better thunder fire in another codex.

Thanks! I'd been told Wall of Death was gone, and I couldn't find it.

The rumors I've heard concerning the new Grey Knights codex make me more concerned than anything. Cuts in point costs are needed in several places, but I hope they actually fix the balancing for the units (ex: giving Strike Squads a unique ability so there is a reason to take them over or alongside Purifiers, rather than just gimping Purifiers).

Well I was pretty pissed at the leaks initially, but ASSUMING psybolt ammo is built in, I'm actually super excited.

Problem I had with my lists was deciding to take psyfleman dreads or dreadknights. With dreads moving to elite, I can potentially run 4 psyfleman dreads and 2 double incinerator jump knights for only 980 points! Taking minimum 1 troop and HQ allows me to squeeze an Imperial Knight or 2 in easily!
