Greetings all.
I am a long time Dakkanaut but mainly for 40k reasons. Recently like many others and for various reasons I have started to broaden my wargaming horizons. I have always admired the look of Infinity and decided to give it a go with pre ordering Icestorm. So for obvious reasons being that it is not out yet my new infinity army project log starts with terrain.

I have been scratch building for a while and while I am not likely to win a -=]_=- competition I am fairly competent. And after saying that I will show you my most ambitious idea to date.

This is my in scale floor plan for what i hope to make into an inside spaceship "board"
something of a combination of these next two images

Hexagons = Pillars / rooms with lots of controls and crates and other goodies. Ideally my floor plan is the 2nd floor, the hexagons themselves will be the only things touching the board making all the walkways into an elevated battle area.
The large rectangles are the elevated walkways.
Small rectangels are like balconies for the rooms.

I am planing on expanding on the nomads force in icestorm and making it my main army because I was a Tali fan before it was cool and the nomads remind me of Quarians. Also the basis of the inside spaceship board. Red Harvest has some amazing looking hab pieces that inspired this idea, and I have already started the building blocks needed using his lamination technique. My kids are already getting tired of eating cereal lol.

Any comments are welcome. I will work on getting at least one of the rooms built up soon.

Boarding Action tables, which is what we call this sort of thing, are rather interesting to play on. Looks like it will be a very interesting project. A word of advice before getting too far along, play a few games so you understand how terrain works in Infinity. Trust me when I say it is nothing like the 40k game, or even another skirmish game like Malifaux.

Looking forward to the progress.

Thanks Red, Boarding action table sounds much better than inside spaceship thingy lol.
I have played 5 or so 150 point all 40k proxymodel games using the quick start rules and really enjoyed it. Honestly the most difficult part for me was wrapping my head around how to build an army, (the AVA,SWC,point system had me baffled because it does not explain it really at all in the quick start) And the names... and at this point remembering which 40k model is representing what infinity model but that will not be a problem soon.

And besides I will have plenty of lovely proxys that i can use once my pledge from TGG kickstarter arrives. Nurse Bernadette looks like a good Moderator Doctor to me lol.

On an Express Elevator to Hell!!

Names are a killer when you first start, especially if you play Yu Jing or Haqqislam! You'll soon get used to it though and be comfortable with your Djanbazans regenerating wounds caused by a Domaru

Looks very promising so far, and really cool reference work. Looking forward to seeing more

Oh no, you must use the Cat Daktari for your moderators' doctor. That mini infuriates people, even moreso than the lollipop moderator. Use the Nurse Bernadette for a Moderator paramedic. When the kickstarter finally arrives. Whenever that may be, eh?

It has begun! Construction commenceth... or some such wordage-errie. so without further made up words! I give you square one! (pun intended)

Now after taking the picture with the lovely old school 'Nette I had an idea. I am thinking this is part of a Bakunin ship, and likely will try and create an atmosphere similar to this.

and maybe a bit of this

Yes I am getting ahead of myself but having fluff for a piece helps me to finish it. I just wish I knew more of the Nomads / Bakunin backstory. Anyone able to point me in the direction of their story? Is it just in the rule book/s?

Comments welcome!

There's a good rundown in Human Sphere.

In Bakunin, they're eccentric people.

Unfortunately most of the background is in the books. The website has some fluff crumbs in the unit's description but there's where it ends. You can check BoW video, if you missed it but it doesn't contain that much information.
