Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

I vote Windows. Never been a fan of Apple products in general. They always seem incredibly overpriced for what they are, I absolutely hate their aesthetics (give me hard edges and angled corners please!), and by and large the really staunch Apple supporters I have met always annoyed me slightly.
Also I think this is called for given the discussion at hand.

Poll not complete. I cannot vote, I have neither OS on my computer. You should add, like, 3 more options: (Gnu/)Linux, *BSD, and other, less famous OSes.
I am running ArchLinux (with Gnome 3) and Ubuntu, but 99,99% of my time is on ArchLinux.

This poll is focused on the two Operating Systems in direct competition with each other.

Honestly I like them both. More used to windows though. Lack of available games on OSX is a definite mark against it. I think if you are coming into computing for the first time OSX would be a better operating system due to it being easier to use, its harder to move onto if you are used to windows though.

But… that does not make sense. Windows is way more in competition against Linux than against MacOS. Really, Apple is in competition against other computer manufacturers much more than against Microsoft. That is why it is not even allowed to install MacOSX on a non-Apple personal computer (PC).

If you use a broad definition of computer, most of them: Linux is very strong on servers, including web servers, smartphones (because Android), super-computers, embedded stuff, … If you speak only about the traditional PC, then it is pretty hard to estimate, but usually it is considered at about 1%.
I do not see how that should mean excluding it from the poll. I mean, if few people like it, it will just get few votes…

In my experience the only application that is significantly different on OSX than it is on Windows is itunes. On OSX, itunes is merely bad.
The conventional wisdom that OSX is better than Windows for graphical applications is rooted more in myth than in fact. I've used Photoshop, Premiere, Illustrator, etc, on both - I've built a Hackintosh to mess around with it at home - and the experience is utterly identical on both platforms other than keyboard shortcuts.

If it's anything graphic related, film editing, music edition, CAD, etc... OSX is the way to go.
But, for gaming, browsing, media consumption... WIndows.
This really. Macs are (apparently) decent with handling arty farty stuff, whilst Windows will do you for everything else. I'll take a Windows PC over a Mac any day though. That said I'm currently running a Linux OS, so there you go. Mac's still have the stigma of being pretty looking, but expensive, pieces of crap however ...which is something that I agree with given my own experience with them (when I was at college the bosses decided wouldn't it be good if they threw out all the lab PCs and replaced them with Macs, ,,,Because youknow they cost more, which means they're obviously better. The IT department as a whole kind of facepalmed at that moment).

Actually most of those on OSX can easily be done on windows as well, the only thing I've seen that actually does better is if your trying to use tablets/art on the computer.

Except OSX doesn't do tablets better. My Cintiq, and my Intuos before that, work absolutely perfectly on my Windows PC.
The idea that OSX was the better OS for creative work is an incredibly outdated one.

It was probably true ten or so years ago but I don't think it's true any more.

Count as Linux, but Random Dude does not want to include Linux because reasons!
I mean, just in the replies we have at least 3 linux users, but he said there are not enough users for him to take Linux into account or something.

I don't give a gak. A computer is a computer. If I had to pick... Windows, because at least Microsoft isn't nearly as pretentious. When it comes to their OS, anyway.

Compare the market share of Android-based phones and Apple phones to Linux and the regular OS.
Linux has its uses, which basically boils down to servers. For the regular user, Linux is a terrible mess. It's clunky, overly complicated and has severe compatibility issues due to a lack of support by the Big Names.
