My group has been looking at Chapter Tactics: Black Templars and have been thinking of making a small tweak to them. Now we try to keep things simple and Fluffy.
Example:
>Chapter Tactics: Samalamners, he just made the simple House rule that you can Replace and Heavy Bolter with a Heavy Flamer for Free.

That is the kind of thing we are looking for. Something simple we can add to make them both Fully and does not involve any real point changes [Makes using AB easier that way]

Any thoughts?

They already have crusader squads in land raiders.

I guess you could simply bring back the holy hand grenade

Maybe allow a Captain to take Zealot for X points, giving them super-chaplains like the BA and DA get?

Well Helbrecht has that once per game "waaagh" power, but I dont think that ability should be tied to him. I think it should instead be a chapter tactic of the entire army.

I mean their whole thing is charging in to close combat. I think the Chapter Tactics should reflect that.

So either each unit may do this once per game, or once per game all models with CT: Black Templar get to Run then Charge.

Or give units with CT: Black Templar who arrive via deepstrike the ability to charge in that same turn. (Models embarked in drop pods do not qualify!) So this would be aimed toward assault marines and terminators.

Also, Dreadnoughts should benefit from CT rules.

I like that

I really like this one

This might be a little to much as nobody else can do that.

Also, Dreadnoughts should benefit from CT rules.

I might add this to all of the Chapter Tactics that are not Unit Specific...

Actually at our gaming location we have implemented a house-rule of allowing dreads to use the Chapter Tactics. Since, it is piloted by a marine afterall, and its usually a really old and awesome marine of that chapter who would have those tactics more ingrained then crusader bob.

Plus, dreads need a little boost where they can get it.

Shameless plug to my own suggested rule from a week or so ago.

My suggestion is simple:

For 10 points, let any Sergeant or Sword Brother with Chapter Tactics: Black Templars upgrade to an Aspiring Chaplain for 10 points. The Chaplain would use the same statline as the Sergeant in question and still have access to the Armoury, except he'd grant Hatred to his squad, but not have a Crozius Arcanum or Fearless, as he's still in training. This'd let Black Templars melee units be more dangerous without breaking them beyond belief, and seeing as it is similar to how Wolf Guards work shouldn't be hard to implement at all.

Thoughts?

I commented on this post when I saw it last week, and the more I read it, the more I feel like it would be the best thing for your group, and for 40k in general. AlmightyWalrus hit the nail on the head with this. No one will come up with something better.

I went to Hershey Park in central PA this year, and I have to say I was more than a little disappointed. I fully expected the entire theme park to be make entirely of chocolate, but no. Here in America, we have "building codes," and some other nonsense about chocolate melting if don't store it someplace kept below room temperature.
