Ok so 2000 points vs the guy who taught me.

My List:
HQ: Dakka Flyrant, Thorax Hive, Old Adversary
HQ: Dakka Flyrant, Thorax Hive, Hive Commander

Elite: Zoey
Elite: Zoey
Elite: Veno

Heavy: Mawloc
Heavy: Mawloc
Heavy: Dakkafex (twin Brain Leeches)

Troops: 15 Fleshborer 15 Devilgaunts
Troops: Tervigon, Thorax Hive, Crushing Claws
Troops: Ripper Swarm x3 Deep Strike

Fast Attack: 15x Gargoyles

Living Artillery Formation:
Warrior Brood, x3, Barbed Strangler
Biovore Brood, x3
Exocrine

So I took a lot of pictures, but i will try and make this short.
We got Maelstrom 5, and he got first deploy. Night fighting, and i got lucky and stole the initiative.

My Deployment:

Turn one casted catalyst from one flyrant to other succesfully. Casted onslaught to the gargoyles and that was about it for psychic.

The left side ran gargoyles up along with venomthrope, carnifex and Flyrants.
Barely moved up the gaunts and just blanketed the area (he typically likes to deathstar my LAF) so i was hoping to force him to drop in the corner.
Both flyrants shot at sniper drones and took all of them out. Etherial was left, and i forgot about him for most of the game.

End of Tyranids turn one.

Tau turn one, he shifted a tiny bit but no real moves, shot at my flyrants and gargoyles... only one wound on the non-warlord flyrant.

Then did something silly and jet packed his crisis suits in a bundle next to his riptide.

End of tau turn one. He did a lot of shooting at the flyrants but between snap shotting, 3+ AS and my 5+ FNP i saved wonderfully. Passed my drop test.

Nids turn 2. All reserves pass! Which leaded toooooooo:

All 3 crisis suits went blam! Delayed mishap, muahahaha perfect. (rofl)

Flew the flyrants in deep to try and take out the broadsides, and get on his half of the table for his 2 incoming baracudas. I end up taking out 1 broadside and a drone.

Tervigon outflanked and made 8 gaunts and didnt pop.

My turn was not exactly fruitfull... His early warning systems took 3 wounds on my tervigon, and the charge from my gaunts left them all dead. (ugh)

Tau Turn 2:
His deathstar fell for the bait. Both barracudas came in as well.

He moved his devilfish around after deploying a small fire warrior squad. Ended up not finishing off the gargoyles. Barracuda dealt a wound to my exocrine (Iron Hide as he has been nicknamed by others) Rippers didnt make it past the turn either, he shot and assualted with riptide and took them all out with 3 instant death wounds.

Tervigon didnt make it past the turn...lame.... Deathstar unit wiped out the biovores but no splitfire so the warriors were safe.

Tyranids Turn 3:

My gaunts turned around for 55 shots thanks to run/shoot psychic from a zoanthrope.

Flyrants moved for backup on his warlord (farsight) since i had the card and wanted him dead, also was shooting at a barracuda that was not on its stand and not visible in the pic.

Gaunts took 55 shots and landed 23 wounds.... 23!

They failed leadership and ran. Carnifex charged a devilfish and got 3 on the D3 for HoW.

End of Tyranids 3. Tau 3:

Barracudas wrapped around and killed some gaunts and the other wounded my warlord. My mawlock scattered far and got shot up!

That was about all he could achieve.

Tyranids Turn 4:
Carni and exocrine went hard after the riptide and managed to take him out in assault, but it cost me the carnifex. A surviving firewarrior kept grenading my mawloc. As i drew a kill unit objective, he had three units with only one model in it, so i took my MC's and chased nobodies.... But i killed 3 units and got my D3 victory points.

At this point I flew my warlord with one wound off the table and let him live. It became a hunt for him to kill an MC and a run for me to score my final objective cards with what little units i had left.

I know this is a scattered BatRep, but it was a 6 hour long game with lots of stuff going on and i figured you wouldnt want too big of a post (if this one isnt already).

I won 12-7 with one extra turn!

Awesome! Congrats. Tau is generally a very tough matchup for bugs, but good to see you scoring the victory. BTW, was he running the Farsight-bomb (that's Farsight with a bunch of bodyguard suits)?

Yeah, it's a nasty deathstar unit for sure.

One of my regular Tau opponents run a bloated Farsight-bomb (with Farsight, Shadowsun, 7 bodyguards and a bunch of drones) and it always gives me trouble. In one of my games against him, his deathstar unit shot down all 3 of my flyrants while flying!

It always bring a smile to my face whenever bugs are able to overcome Tau, especially one with the Farsight-bomb in it.

Congrats on the win! Always good to get the first one under your belt. Against Tau is always a favourite of mine. My brother runs Tau, and have had some awesome games over the years.

To be honest, shiny model effect. When people hear the re-rollable it has made them switch up targets for some silly reason.

Grats on the victory. I've obliterated Tau the two times I've played them with my Nids, surprisingly, and it is an amazing feeling.

Shadowsun is the one that gives Stealth and Shrouded, right? I'm pretty sure they FAQed it that he can't be in Farsight's unit.

She can if you are using the Tau codex and not the Farsight Enclaves one.

Congrats, but the scoring seems a bit odd at 12-7. Shouldn't it be 13-7, or 12-8? A shame that it's so hard to beat Tau that the games are this close even when Nids have a tuned list, steal the initiative and roll crucial hits with the Mawlocs.

Didn't read for one simple reason.

You spoiled the ending in the title, and it just lost all the interest I had in seeing how the fight unravel, I KNEW the end result.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.
