New book looks good Terminators seem to have got a big boost and for once the Detachment special rules look actually as good if not better than ObSec.
Libby: 110
Terminators: Psycannon 185
Purifiers: 2 Psycannons 155
5 Paladins: 2 Psycannons, Apothecary, Hammer 345
5 Paladins: 2 Psycannons, Apothecary, Hammer 345
Interceptors: 4 Falcions, Incinerator 151
Interceptors: Justicar with Halberd, 3 Falcions, Incinerator 149
Dreadknight: Teleporter, Sword, Psycannon 205
Dreadknight: Teleporter, Sword, Psycannon 205
So I'm going for an all deepstriking attack. The obvious issues being Tau intercepting my face off or bad reserve rolls killing me (with no reserve manipulation). So I'm open to suggestions to help that. 40 S7 rending shots a turn 11 warp charge and 4 jump units for fast objective grabbing. What do you think?

How can you get to Ml4? What would you drop to pay for that? Given he won't be rolling Santic what do you think is the main benefit of a Ml4 build?

The special relic wargear. 25 points I believe. Gives extra roll on sanctic. If your not planning on rolling at all on sanctic then it may be best to not have that, but mastery level 3 gives you a much better chance at getting the powers you want.

I'll either roll divination for guaranteed prescience or Telepathy going for invisibility but also Shriek to buff the alphastrike when he arrives. It's 25 points to go up a level and to be honest I just don't really see it as worth it in this list. I'd be dropping guaranteed firepower for a potential buff. I've no deathstar that needs invisibility etc to work so I just don't see the value in this list. An aegis defense line with a comms relay is 75pts and gives you re rolls to all your reserve rolls. Kind of expensive, but it'll make sure you get most(or all) of your deep strikers in on the first turn, which is kind of important for this kind of list.

True, but myself, I would deploy the interceptors and dread knights on table so my opponent wouldn't get the chance. After my reserve rolls are maybe shunt the interceptors and dread knight up to support.

You would have to start stuff on the board for the comms relay to work. Which gives my opponent a reason to go first and a relatively easy shot at first blood.

If you go first, this will be a good option.

One of the nice tricks with the special Detatchment is you get the early push into the opponents face without using the shunt.
I have, on occasion, been able to have my tau outrun the shunt using skimmer or faster than average units in order to get the separation I needed to avoid the assault on the following turn. By deep striking up close turn one, then having the option for a shunt turn two to hem in an escaping opponent you have much better odds of catching and killing him.
It also means you still have that 30inch move to claim or contest an objective in Malstrom missions.

Why the Purifiers FlingItNow? They don't have the ability to DS unless I'm mistaken?
Also, you may not need the PT on the Dreadknights. By DSing in T1 they are already where they need to be in most cases. It's not like you are shunting to the enemy, and without ObSec they aren't as good at contesting. But I was playing around with non PT Knights in 7th already. I'm still planning on using it on my DS List, but toyed with the idea of forgoing it if absolutely necessary for points.
Just not sold on the Purifiers.

Because I never realised that Purifiers didn't have deepstrike So I'll have to drop some weapons to make them Terminators or something else? Automatically Appended Next Post: I still want the Teleporters for threat range and objective grabbing. JMC just makes you much more difficult to avoid assault from. How about this with no HS or FA slots left and nothing in Elite that can DS for the points I've plumbed for another HQ:

Its a tough call for points, this really will make a solid 1750 list and it better optimized for that level. That said, we can definitely make it work. You may be better off just adding some ablative wounds to squads, say another Paladin with Hammer in each Squad. Or add add two terminators, at least one hammer, and add Heavy Incinerators to the Dreadknights. I think the 2nd Librarian is kind of a waste and those points can be better spend on more wounds and toys.
I fully support keeping the Personal Teleporters if at all possible. Just a thought, those PT points upgrade a Librarian to a Terminator Squad with a Psycannon and that is worth something.

I agree the 2nd libby isn't great the plan was to run Shriek on him for extra Ap2 and it meant both Paladin squads would betwin linked which helps with AA. The other idea I had was up an Interceptor squad to 10 and combat squad effectively giving me another fast objective clearing unit. I don't like imperial armies with squad numbers not divisible by 5, I'm an Ultramarine at heart and it just doesn't feel right:
Libby: 110
Terminators: Psycannon, Justicar with Halberd 187Â
5 Paladins: 2 Psycannons, Apothecary, Hammer 345Â Â
5 Paladins: 2 Psycannons, Apothecary, Hammer 345Â Â
Interceptors: 4 Falcions, Incinerator 151Â Â
10 Interceptors: 8 Falcions, 2 Incinerators 302
Dreadknight: Teleporter, Sword, Psycannon 205Â Â
Dreadknight: Teleporter, Sword, Psycannon 205Â Â
I think here the interceptors offer more.

Well, the army lacks in the anti-flyer department.
My first list was quite similar to yours. Therefore I'll consider two Rifleman Dreads.

I'm not going near the Dreads 150 points for a worse Dread no thanks. A single Stormraven is better AA than 2 of them and cheaper and more survivable.

Definitely a better list FlingItNow. I agree the interceptors are more useful than the Librarian.
List definitely is light on AA, but does have access to one source of Precience and enough Vokume of fire to take out one or two flyers. Necrons will be Teouble, but hey they'll be getting a new Dex in the near future and my bets are Necron flyer span won't be nearly as enticing. Otherwise, most flyers don't pack enough of the kinds of firepower that really scares your list, can take most Flyers fire and just ignore them IMO.

Yeah the plan against flyers is deploy objectives aggressively and play the shot denial game by DSing into his deployment zone. Whilst Prescience makes a Paladin squad hurt a flyer seriously every turn.

Because Heavy Psycannon is the best gun and I can only afford 1. Psilencer got a big buff but it is pretty situational and you're often wounding on 6s vs the targets that you get the buff against (spawn, TMCs, Riptides, can't hurt Wraithknights). I have enough incinerators elsewhere I want as much AT fire in the alphastrike as possible. If I had the spare points I'd love to give both Knights a Psilencer as well as the Psycannon (18 shots a turn each then).

Psylencers are S4, which admittedly doesn't change it for most of those things, but they still wound Wraithknights on 6s

Has this always been the case? I remember looking into getting Wraithguard during 5th edition and was dismayed to find out that they weren't immune to lasguns. I thought you had to have T of (attack's S)x2+1 to be immune
edit: so I looked it up, and it seems 3 can wound 6 on 6+, but 4 doesn't wound 8, which is odd but okay. And 5 doesn't wound 9... and this is really odd to me. 1 can wound 4?? I'm really confused.

It has nothing to do with double +1 that's the Ws chart. The Woubd chart is 4+, 5+, 6+, 6+, NA so it is the difference between the numbers. If it is 4 or greater you can't hurt it. The chart has been this way since Rogue Trader.

The laws for WS and BS are different.
For WS, its 2* WS+1 to hit on 3+ or 5+.
For BS roll to wound, there is an increment of +3. E.g., an assault cannon, S6, can hurt S9, but a heavy bolter, S5, cannot.
