What is the best unit to attach Kaldor Draigo?

Paladins, Purifiers, or Terminators?

I've been doing a lot of number crunching, but curious what other people have to say.

On a hunch, paladins. FNP is pretty valuable and guaranteed gate is a godsend for paladins. Garnish with ML3 librarian and/or Stern for Sanctuary, Forwarning, Invisibility, etc.

They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They are my Space Marines, and they shall know no fear.

Well, I'd opt for Paladins. It worked for me very well in the previous editions.
He could tank wounds like no other. With Sanctuary he's even better.

Hammernators.

But these guys could already be made more resilient with a GK Librarian having access to Sactuary.

Stick him in an all-GK deathstar. Draigo, Librarian with Liber Daemonica, A Brother-Captain with Soul Glaive and Psycannon, attached to a Paladin unit with 2 Psycannons and an Apothecary, with a few Hammers in there. That's three Psycannons that have easy access to Prescience, with 2++/5+++ Draigo tanking (with Sanctuary from Libby), that NOBODY wants to be in close combat with, and is highly mobile thanks to Draigo. Stupid expensive, but probably pretty fun too.

I'd drop the Brother Captain. This unit is already enough expensive.
Draigo + Librarian w/ ML(3) + 5 Paladins w/ psycannon (x2), daemon hammer, Apothecary.

Doing that really diminishes your threat as a shooting unit as well, and allows you to more easily be kited around the board by fast units. With the extra Psycannon, even fast units that can stay away from your assault can't necessarily escape the rending S7 shots coming their way.

Well, I'd spend the freed points (Brother-Captain) elsewhere.
The unit is scary enough. Just walk it aggressively through the centre.

This. Keep the ward on the Libby, and you have a small deathstar that no one wants to have deep strike next to them. You have three hammer hand opprotunities. Even if only one power goes off, you have a Draigo swinging STR 9 AP2, Libby at STR 8 AP4, and paladins swining STR 6, 7, 8, or ten depending on weapon loadouts. Combined with getting off the charge, or having either banner, you are wreaking everything to include knight spam in CC. Draigo tanks ID wounds from ID, and can LoS! them if he's running low on wounds. Sanctuary on the libby means a 2++ with draigos shield. It's a realistic death star with just needing one or two psychic powers going off. If Libby has a ward, ML3 upgrade (maybe even the relic for the +1 ML), libby will be shutting down other psychic strong armies with his hood thanks to ML3/ML4 and AW. Re-rolling ones to boot even on enemy blessings.

So I have 10 Paladins including Banner, Apothecary, my own loadout and Draigo and can repaint my Librarian for this? Decent ^_^.

Thanks for the responses!

I was toying with either Purgators or Paladins, and was leaning towards Paladins anyway, now definitely, considering your responses.

This is an extreme 1500 point list:

-Draigo
-Librarian ML3 (Divination for Prescience)
-Librarian ML3 (Telepathy for Invisibility)
-10x Paladins /w 1x Apothecary, 1x Brotherhood Banner, 4x Psycannons, 2x Daemon Hammers, 7x Falchions
-5x Grey Knight Strike Squad (fulfills troop requirement)
-1x Nemesis Dreadknight /w Heavy Incinerator

TOTAL = 1498 points

If I did the math right and under ideal situations (Invisibility, Prescience, Hammerhand), a Paladin in this unit would have about a 94% chance to not sustain a wound from Plasma weapons being fired at BS4, increased to over 95% if Draigo is tanking the hits. Additionally, it would be making 16x Psycannon shots and 18x Stormbolter shots per turn during shooting phase, and 4 attacks per Paladin per turn at 6 strength, rerolling misses, all attacks potentially rending (if want to try to go for Misfortune too during psychic phase, which admittedly might be pushing it), plus Draigo's and the Librarian close combat attacks too.

This would be a Deathstar right?

Maxed out unit of Thunderwolf cavalry, 2 ML3 GK librarians, 3 thunderwolf iron priests, and Ulric the Slayer. Unit stays majority T5, has a huge footprint, has preferred enemy against everything, a 6+ Feel No Pain, and has a massive threat radius.

Is the single ML3 librarian providing both prescience and sanctuary? Risky gambit if so.

Nope, the Libby rolls sanctic for Sanctuary, the Bro-Champ takes his single roll on Divination. Getting either ignores cover or the 4++ invul, as well as then getting prescience would stack nicely and make that unit uber nasty.

Well, the latest list above is too top heavy.
In maelstrom missions your units cannot be everywhere and the enemy will win by occupying mission objectives.

Draigo, Tigurius, 3-5 Cents + Omniscope would be my guess for best bang-for-buck star.

That's Sevrin Loth. Tigurius re-rolls when generating powers, brings reserve manipulation, and re-rolls failed manifestations. Loth picks powers, can sacrifice a charge for 2++, and possibly re-rolls failed tests (can't remember).

Well, you HAVE to include an HQ for the marines unless you're going unbound.
