isn't misfortune a malediction, not a blessing? if so then it is legal - it isn't buffing tau, but debuffing the enemy.

Huh? Misfortune gives rending ATTACKS, not shooting.

Also, how would you even buff Tau in 7th, when they aren't battle brothers?

Misfortune is a malediction that makes all hits on the target to have the rending special rule. It doesn't need battle brothers to work. It will even make the opponents own hits against the unit to have rending.(scattering blasts etc.)

The hammerhead is underrated for this task, as it can inflict grievous damage on vehicles with impunity. Stealth suits are a very reliable option, but are likely to be blown apart in retribution. They will soak a lot of fire before they go though, so they will serve nicely as a vehicle nuke and distraction. Crisis suits should have missile pods or fusion blasters and can nuke the hell out of enemies. Deep-striking is the best way to get them in. If you are fighting av14 you will want to bring broadsides with heavy rail rifles set up for anti air in case of nasty airborne surprises wile still being able to point ground targets. Riptides do well, but require you to get close for any kind of reliable antitank. You will want to take fusion blasters and use ripple fire to double melta enemy vehicles. Only try to use the nova profile if you are desperate, as a nova ion cannon has a 44% chance of not doing anything and prevents you from attempting to fire your fusion blaster if you fail due to gets hot. Take markerlights to turn any of the above into pure raep.

PS: Do take emp grenades on fire warriors at all times. Nothing says "Screw you!" like fire warriors killing a hellbrute in melee.

Helbrute? you are thinking small.

Nothing says "Screw you" like fire warriors closing on on your land raider XD (been there, done that)

I thought about doing that. But the turn you get out of your Devilfish you can't charge. Your going to get shot off the table fairly easily... FWs aren't that tough...

And if your footslogging them it's even worse.

How are you guys getting charges off with your Fire Warriors?! o_o Are you take tons of them?

Taking two squads of 9. Nobody expects tau to charge an imperial knight until its gak has been wrecked.

AV 13 runs quite the gambit:
predators =AV 13
necron barges = 4+ jink
waveserpents = 3+ jink and 2+ downgrade pen to glance
imperial knight = 4++
formation imperial knight = 4++ rerollable

what works against predators and barges (hammerheads) doesn't work against knights. But similarly a fusion suit will probably have a harder time getting good distance /facing against a bubble wrapped predator/leman rus line.

Against Knights, ally in a vindicare to take away their invuln saves. To keep it in theme, you could use a pathfinder with a Rail-Rifle to proxy the model in game.

Then your fusion suits/fusion piranhas/fusion anything can do their jobs.

Rule #1 is Look Cool.
Rule #2 is Do Cool S*%* Even If It's Tactically Inadvisable
Winning is something like Rule #17.

Overkill is officially defined by the Commissariat and the Munitorium as: "The minimum amount of force that is to be brought to bear against the enemies of the Emperor."

I believe the new vindicare assasin only ignores invuln saves on his own weapon, not destroy the wargear.

The vindi can either TP to get S10 against tanks, OR ignore the invul, not both at once.

And the new assassin just ignores the invul, not destroy them.

1 Vindicare won't destroy a Knight in one shot... at best it'll take d3 HP.

You need to fire good AT weapons at different sides, so he'll be forced to protect only one with the shield

Tau allied with a wraithknight for some S10 goodness is one of my solutions. Buff commander with a squad of deepstriking Fusions suits (2 each) is pretty much the death of any tank. I'm actually going to see how i can fit in some Piranhas but my FA slots are usually filled with Marker drones and Tetras (occasionally XV9's)

as we're allying Eldar, why use expensive wraithknight for S10 when you can get a lot of S8 Lance in cheaper units? against AV 14, it's basically the same efficiency (and a bit worse against 13, I'll give you that - but quantity > quality)

True, and i agree its just as good against AV 14 but not against high toughness MC's like other wraithknights which it has the chance to instant kill, nor does the lance weapons come on a T8 durable platform that also provides my Tau army with some CC capabilities.

Yep. S8 lance might be just as good at taking out AV14 as S10, but lesser when you need to kill smaller AV values, or MCs of T7 or higher.

You will be really happy to have them S10 shots once a T8 iron armed priced or something shows up.

Shooting is an attack.

And misfortune affects enemy units, not friendly ones, so any attacks at the misfortuned target get rending
