Well for one thing, I drop my interest into it, and say that I will listen to the debate, but I will not get involved in the argument, I mean not without hardcore facts.

What has been said has sparked my interest, but I will comment about it later. And then I can go back and edit it and add some of my input.

Plus its a great way to put interest back into the thread.



Also it is a bad idea if you work in the industry to discuss the reviewing side, that might win unfavorable viewpoints.

But I think the reviewing world knows nothing about me until I make a game that gets media attention.

That is an insane interpretation of events, and further evidence that you have been looking into the abyss to long, not others. One can disagree with that analysis, but that isn't the same as warping that person into some weird monster.

It is sad when you have to resort to cherry picking definitions, pretending you you don't know there are others, and the willful misapplication of them to score some points (in your own mind). You seem to have forgotten it also applies to an ancient Jewish sect and, more importantly is also "a person who is fanatical and uncompromising in pursuit of their religious, political, or other ideals". If you think she is 'fanatical' then you haven't met or seen any real fanatics. People threatening to kill or rape someone because they don't like their thoughts on video games are fanatics, for instance.

forget the police report then, show me a statement from the police, how is the investigation going, do they have any suspects? Where is the outrage from her supporters towards the police who after a week don't have anything to show in what should be a open and shut case already.

How dare I want evidence, and the police report would be the most convincing evidence and should be producible, as anita should have a copy. How unsettling to want evidence before accepting a claim.

Yeah, there are zealots on both sides, which is perfectly normal as practically everything in life and nature has extremes/extremists. Those sending rape threats and endless tirades against Anita are the extremists of those that disagree with her. Those that dog-pile anyone who disagrees with Anita with calls of "misogyny" and "patriarchy" and so on are the extremists of those that agree with Anita.

Both aren't mutually exclusive. Anita is a liar and a zealot. She purposefully misrepresents information, she claims doing "extensive research" on the topics she discusses and denies any rational counter-conclusions. Her haters...do the same. To be fair, we don't know how much of the gak she actually says she believes. I'm with mattyrm in that I think a lot of this is just money-making nonsense. You have to differentiate between herself and her points. Her videos are obviously made to get attention and thus money. Her points aren't automatically falsified, however. There aren't many valid points, but some are. And even those that are correct are grossly overblown and / or made up for the most part.

There is a strong bias, for once, towards male gamers. That cannot be denied. Anita, however, doesn't understand why there is. She assumes that's because of misogny and that there's a male supremist conspiracy behind it, yet it's solely for economic or biological reasoning. Not to mention that she denies most positive examples for really strong female characters, even in mainstream games. Tiny Tina / Lilith comes to my mind.

She makes the videos for people who already know all of this and look for confirmation for their very own ideas. She reaches out to anyone with the same mindset and to noone else. It's money making. Actually, Japanese devs do include much more sexualized male characters. Some Japanese games have incredibly sexualized characters,some have much more reasonable stuff. On the other hand, Duke Nukem has always been western.

The idea that my situation would somehow be unique is one I do not find plausible.

I am a bit in the same situation as Ashiraya. But it is not just Anita's video, a bunch of other stuff I read about helped too.

Intended audience and actual audience rarely are the same.
