Man, I want to play boardgames with you. Good luck getting my group to sit down for something like AH or TI.

No wargames these days, more DM/Painting.

I paint things occasionally. Some things you may even like!

Hmm well it's hard to pick just one.

Tops few games would have to be (in no particular order):
Settler of catan
Carcassone
Warhammer fantasy (not technically a board game)
Merchants of the Middle Ages (have only played a few times but really like it I would highly recommend it)

Pandemic is getting a lot of play at the moment here, after we convinced the one of us who we didn't think would like it - we have a convert!

Pandemic is my favorite board game.

My wife originally thought it looked stupid and now she loves it. My mom was skeptical as well and she really enjoys it too.

Betrayal at the House on the Hill.

Rivet Wars.
Pokemon Master Trainer.
Game of Thrones Board Game.

Anything from FFG is generally good, although most rulebooks leave something to be desired.

Talisman is probably my top game still. I've been playing it since its second edition waaaaay back in the 80s, still play the digital version all the time. Still, it's only on top by a little bit. Lately I've been into co-op or "team vs game master" games (think Hero Quest, which I absolutely love).

Started with Last Night on Earth. Have all the expansions for it, and it really just is a great fun game with a classic survivors vs zombies theme. This one gets played at just about every board game night.
Invasion from Outer Space! It's basically Last Night on Earth with a "Carnies vs Martians" theme, and I actually think it's the superior game. There is just way more to do as the Martian player than the Zombie player gets to do in LNoE (though recent expansions have ameliorated this somewhat). Sadly, there are no expansions to IFOS.
Touch Of Evil, as has been mentioned, is a greatly themed game. Games can drag on a little in co-op, but it's still good fun.
Fortune and Glory! Don't own this one, but it's basically Indiana Jones the board game. Fun stuff, but a LOT of pieces to deal with.

Haven't met a Flying Frog game I haven't enjoyed.

Twilight Imperium is an 'all-night' game. Games are long, but depending on your group they're usually full of stuff going on. Between Political votes, fighting it out, secret objectives, actiong cards and Distant Horizons tokens, turns tend to avoid getting dull. It's one of the few competitive games I still enjoy playing.

Small World is another game I enjoy immensely. It doesn't depend heavily on dice rolls or randomness (beyond race + trait pairings), so there's a good deal of strategy to it beyond "hope I roll well". Plays pretty quickly too, since the game is a set number of turns.

Arkham Horror is another 'all night' game. Funnily enough, I've only ever played via Vassal because it makes set up sooo much easier. Pretty sure this has more pieces than even Fortune and Glory!.

Betrayal at the House on the Hill is a group favorite. Starts out Scooby Doo, ends up as a variety of traitorous scenarios. Probably the most frequently played game in my groups. Because the betrayal is randomly triggered, games can be a little one sided where either the heros have everything they need to win, or the traitor just steam rolls them. Still, when it does end up balanced it's probably one of the most satisfying games to win.

I think that about covers my repertiore

Recently, The Game of Thrones Board Game, 2nd Edition has become my favorite being there is a lot going on and its one of the most dynamic games I've ever played. Before that it was a mix of other games like the card game munchkins to the mafia based board game blood feud in new York.

It probably doesn't count as a "board" game, but Cards Against Humanity.

I know that makes me a terrible human being, but it really is a ridiculous amount of fun

My friends and I really enjoy an ancient chariot racing game called "Circus Maximus" I managed to find on ebay after one person's dad talked about playing it in college. It's one of those old 80s games with a horribly laid out rulebook and mechanics that are way too detailed in certain areas with absolutely no consistency, but dang if it isn't fun to crash chariots into each other!

Another favorite is "High Frontier" (orbital mechanics: the board game) where you build rockets and race to get production facilities up on other planets in the solar system to make more advanced rocket parts.

Like watching other people play video games (badly) while blathering about nothing in particular? Check out my Youtube channel: joemamaUSA!

Playing Talisman again recently, what didn't ever strike me years ago was how absolutely, hilariously random the entire game is!

Not that it isn't fun (because it is) but there is about as much tactical consideration to take on board as a game of snakes and ladders.

Probably work

Probably Mutant Chronicles (Siege of the Citadel) from the 90s.

It had some broken elements (i.e. the one lucky bastard who got the Grenade Launcher first), but overall still holds up well.

A close second is Arkham Horror though.

Yes, and that is what made it so fun to play. Unless you had a problem with just watching yourself loosing the game while not being able to do anything about it.

I remember playing a game called... Heroscape? It was a skirmish game that involved being able to build your own battlefield, which I thought was pretty cool.
Talisman and Axis and Allies were also my favorites, despite never really winning any of the games I played.
Also, special mention to Cards Against Humanity and Apples to Apples.

Wow, serious threadomancy.

Well, Kingdom Death vaulted over everything else for me.

Dominion (if we're lumping card and board games together) is a distant second, largely because it's fast and has a ton of variety and everyone in my gaming circle likes it well enough.

Yeah I had that game, all of your units were from different periods throughout time. Only played the game itself a couple of times, mostly just played with the prepainted models, but I was young and didn't yet like rules and structure in my games

Axis and Allies has been my favorite since I was 16, used to start games with my father but we could never finish one. Took too long and someone would inevitably end up accidentally (and sometimes "accidentally") hitting the board or the table it was on and the units would get messed up.

Heroscape was the shnizz, man. I used to play the crap out of it. Then I grew up and got into Wahammer 40k...

Talisman is great, and I also like Relic.

Also, shout out to the World of Warcraft Board Game.

I love the original Axis and Allies, still a fantastic game. Sadly no one to play it with...

Pictionary is my favorite large group game, we use white boards for drawing and that is lots of fun. Followed by Bang or Samurai Sword, which are great party games.

Clue is a fantastic and classic board game.

Right now we are enjoying Rise of Augustus!, as it plays fast, has good rules, and is suitable for all ages.
