I was looking into possibly using a double Phantom Tie list. Has anyone tried this and if so what else do you pair it with?

I was thinking

Whipser +Veteran Pilot + Advanced Cloak
Echo +Veteran Pilot + Advanced Cloak
Captain Kagi
(Leaves one point left over)

Basically, Kagi is there to absorb all the target locks so that the Phantoms aren't targeted. Phatoms attempt to kill stuff as quickly as possible. Possibly taking out a couple of ships before the shuttle dies. The remaining ships will then die quickly to the Phantom's huge amount of firepower.

I have run 2 pimped out phantoms and a basic tie with some success.
The only real danger is another elite list with higher pilot skill so they shoot first before you can use the advance cloak.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Ran double Phantom today. Whisper, Sigma and two Obsidians. Won handily enough. Only lost one Obsidian and the Sigma, and the Sigma was due to two huge consecutive mistakes on my part.

Kagi is too expensive to be running along two Phantoms, are really Target Locks are not a problem Phantoms have.

I have run this with some decent success.

Echo: Veteran Instincts, Advanced Sensors, Advanced Cloaking Device, Rebel Captive

Whisper: Fire Control System, Advanced Claoking Device, Gunner

Dark Curse:

You have to be careful when going against lists with higher pilot skill. You need to take your time and manuver so you can take advantage of your ACD.

I like Dark Curse just due to his ability.

One of the top lists I have seen locally is running two Phantoms + a Shuttle (not sure on the pilot) with Darth Vader. Its tough to chase down the Phantoms, so most people go for the Shuttle - which is a major bonus for the Phantoms because it gives them a focus point where they know you will be. Its certainly not unbeatable but has seen an increase in the number of high pilot skill Falcons being used.

Yeah if I was to do it I'd figure out a way to run a shuttle too, probably the guy who can take stress for the phantoms. Shuttle gives you something tanky and you can throw it at Falcons to chip shields off without feeling bad.

The only problem is if you do take a lambda you won't have a ton of points to pimp out the phantoms.

What about running this? It throws more in to help against the Milleneum Falcon reroll. This gives them a 9 and 8 pilot skill the rebell captive prevents the falcon from shooting at it two turns in a row and Mara makes sure that the falcon keeps a stress token. Also, the sensor jammers help against the rerolls and general damage prevention. One question, if the Han +gunner Falcon rolls, you change one of the rolls to a focus that can't be rerolled and they reroll the rest of the dice, can you change one of the damages each time they roll?

I still prefer Echo over Whisper. The movement you get out of Echo is unreal. Nothing in the game comes close to that. You can adjust to whatever your opponent does during his movements before. Just be careful and don't over think yourself.

I'm planning on trying two sigma phantoms with cloaks , fire contol, and gunners plus two academy ties next game. You fire, and if you miss you get a free target lock and another try at it with each phantom. i

An easy double Phantom would be

Whisper w/ Vet Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device, Tactician
Echo w/ Vet Instincts, Advanced Cloaking Device, Tactician
2x Academy Pilots

Now, the 4 points for Tacticians can be swapped for anything. 1-4 points for an initiative bid, Fire Control Systems, other crew, whatever.

A guy in our weekly league has been running triple Phantoms and doing pretty well, I think, outside of occasional unlucky rolls. He does a good job of keeping you surrounded so you're always chasing the wrong Phantom, and he uses Recon Specialists to give them big stacks of tokens that are hard to cut through.

Whisper + Veteran Instincts + Advanced Cloaking Device + Recon Specialist
2x Sigma Squadron Pilot + Stygium Particle Accelerator + Recon Specialist

My friend used the one last night that curves 2 instead of straight 2. It was impossible get the guy in my sights. The phantoms are fantastic. And I'm no rookie player.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I had both horrendous and incredible games with my dual phantom build. One thing I'd recommend are NOT tangling with strong ships that have ways of hitting outside their primary arc, especially if they're a higher pilot skill. Some lucky rolls on my opponent's part and bad ones for me meant that my dual phantoms barely got through Boba's shields before dying.

Also, while the maneuverability of the standard phantoms is good, the maneuverability of with the curved 2 markers is MUCH butter. My second game had my stock phantoms versus echo (? the curved template guy) and he had zero problem keeping right behind the phantom he was following while staying out of my other phantom's arc. The only time he was denied a shot is when he rammed the phantom he was following.
