Just finished this model.
After the success I had with my last vehicle http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/611755.page I am a bit disappointed with the result.. Nonetheless, I think this still will look great on the table.
The amount of details on this guy is really insane... You can paint and paint and paint and see no light at the end of the tunnel. Since that way he became already quite colourful I decided to go with a more "grimey" look and few true highlights (mostly to give some more contours to things like the green purity seals) not to overload the already very busy miniature.
Also, with all those edges and nibbles paint kept flaking of left and right... until I just couldn't care to go with ANOTHER Leadbelcher touchup and ANOTHER Maccrage blue over the tiny red spots showing through.
All in all I'd say this was more of a pain to paint - the finecast finish plus the details made for a rather annoying paint job (and you can tell I kinda got fed up with it ).
I started motivated and ended up being satisfied with a more shoddy paintjob than I actually believed I could make do with...

One Belial (which hopefully will turn out better) and I can finally work on the last piece of my army - a DW LRC.

Yeah, usually these finecast pieces I would paint them individually before gluing them together because they get in the way of a lot of things.

That model looks pretty good not seen many Techmarines.

Good work, mate! I've always enjoyed the techmarine model.

I love it, although personally I would choose green over the red suit. I never understood why they gave tech marines red armor in a Dark Angels army. It's probably a lore thing, but I want my tech marine to match

Thanks for the "likes", but I still think I did a rather bad job. Finecast just isn't for me, I'd better stick to vehicles

I did assemble the "arms" to the backpack and left the marine basically in 2 pieces before painting. Mistake. Painting the arms separately would have been easier (if only morally).

The red for techmarines is something every chapter does, just like black for chaplains and blue for the librarians. I kind of like it, puts the Sons of the Lion on the table with neat colours everywhere

Seriously though, don't beat yourself up! I think you did an admirable job on this model. Finecast can be a pain and this is a really busy model, but I think yours turned out great!

True there Finecast can be a pain, doing a conversion of plastic, Finecast & green stuff tomorrow lol

I too have a DA techmarine that I need to paint. Yours looks good. Every time I go to paint him, I'm daunted by the amount of details...

Well theres nothing but getting about to doing it I found the entire finecast finish with the details and all those crevices to be really daunting.
But in the end, even with a shoddy paintjob, he looks phaenomenal on the table due to all the different details you can pick out with different colours.
