I am interested in finding games with tanks in 28mm and up scale. The only ones I am aware of are 40k, Dystopian Legions and DUST and I think Bolt Action also fits. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Preferably in a Sci-Fi-Fantasy setting.

Thanks

If you're willing to dive into OOP ranges, AT-43 did some.
Look on ebay and similar.
It depends on the styles you want.

Warzone (it was a 90s competitor to 40k with corporations and a priesthood v the daemonic forces of Dark Symmetry ).

Kryomek (another game from back then with a human force (The Nexus Federation) v the alien hive creatures (the kryomek) - 28mm but it had tanks and walkers and 28mm infantry.

Void. Another 90s miniature game, 28mm but more skirmish scale. Even had dinosaurs with guns.

Stuff from WZ (1st and 2nd editions) is still available from Prince August miniatures. It also had a kickstarter or some other form of resurrection recently - and is essentially a reboot.

Stuff ffrom the latter two are still available from Scotia grendel.

Historical kits come in a variety of sizes and time periods, are usually quite cheap but more detailed and much more complex kits than you'll find from a game company, and can be converted fairly easily.

Oh, I certainly vote with my dollar, but the problem is that that is not enough. The problem with the 'vote with your dollar' response is that it doesn't take into account why we're not buying the product. I want to enjoy 40k enough to buy back in. It was my introduction to traditional games, and there was a time when I enjoyed it very much. I want to buy 40k, but Gamesworkshop is doing their very best to push me away, and simply not buying their product won't tell them that.

Some other Suggestions.

Historical kits. Look for 1/48 scale for most things but some smaller 1/35 scale stuff will work. Academy and Kitech have lines of 1/48 almost-modern (90's) Battle tanks and APC's that can be sci-fi'ed up and they typically go for only about $15 shipped on ebay. If you go the way of a 28mm WW2 game like Bolt Action, you'll find that 1/48 models aren't much different in size than the 1/56 scale models that Warlord and other wargame companies sell.

-Pig Iron. A small line of nice big sci-fi tanks. Basically the same hull available in MBT, AFV and APC versions.

-Atenociti's workshop. Really pretty sci-fi vehicles.

-Khurasan- Some really sweet not-Aliens-APCs and a similar scout vehcile that's quite nice. A few other vehicles as well, IIRC.

-Old Crow models. These guys appear and disappear periodically, but when they're active, they make some very nice quality sci-fi armor, vehicles, and even a VTOL.

-Armorcast Sci-fi vehicles are still in production. The tank design is a bit dated but looks nice in person.

None of the above have a game associated with them, but most of the best 28mm tank kit's don't. Your best bet is to run them in a generic sci-fi combat game like Tomorrow's War or similar set of rules or proxy them, either in for existing models in a ruleset like Warpath which has rules for vehicles in the game, but no models for those vehicles yet.

-Ramshackle Games makes a huge line of Post-Apoc vehicles for their game "Nuclear Renaissance" that line includes some military vehicles. Also, all the bits for their vehicles can be ordered separately and if you ask nicely, he will switch out parts for vehicles if you want different wheels or a different turret or somesuch.

For companies making 40k proxies, there's Secret Weapon Minaitures and a couple others that make vehicles that are the same size and armament as 40k armor. Some look distinctly 40k, and some have a less grimdark look that would be fine in other sci-fi settings.

All very good lines. One minor correction. Void and Kryomek are available from Scotial Grendel. Warzone first generation is, as you say from Prince August.

Also, the Kryomek tanks are pretty small, but useable as scout vehicles. The Kryomek walkers are beautiful.

Warzone 2nd ed is ALSO available from PA minis.
(that's where the 80 plastics baggie is from. Those are the same models included in the WZ2.0 starter).

The guy who designed the walkers for Kryomek is still around - and now working on a 6mm version of Void.

You are correct. I was thinking that you were referring to second edition as the new one, but I was mistaken. 1st and second edition were both from the past and and as you say, many of the figs for both (most were the same yes?) are still at Prince August. I really should know this since I bought the 2nd edition boxed set back in the 90's..

Sorry about that.

Bolt Action. They are releasing new 1/56 scale vehicles almost weekly, with WWI in the mix now too. Some of the most common vehicle kits have been released in plastic as well as resin. They have just released a new Tank War supplement as well.

Prince August Miniatures http://shop.princeaugust.ie/warzone-mutant-chronicles-wargame/ I'm not sure if they have much or any of the original vehicles anymore. The new vehicles are part of the Warzone Resurection game and they can be purchased here http://shop.prodosgames.com/en/7-warzone

Khurasan http://khurasanminiatures.tripod.com/28mmscifi.html Looks like they've got a new MBT too!

Armorcast. Looks like the sci-fi vehicles are now OOP, but they still sell the 1/48 M113 http://www.armorcast.com/1-48-scale-us-m113-apc?search=apc
