Subject: Leman Russes + Baneblade with Camo behind a ADL = 3+ cover save?

title says it all, since the aegis defense line gives a 4+ cover to models behind it and camo gives +1 to cover saves = 3+ behind the adl and stationary
does the ADL bypass the requirement for vehicles to be obscured by a certain % and would it work?
thanks

Theoretically it would work, however, the ADL does not bypass the 25% requirement for vehicles.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Remember that the cover save is based on the facing not the model as a whole. I would imagine if you p placed the Baneblade against the aegis that would be give you a 3 plus cover of you had camo netting.

Stick a unit of Slabshield Bullgryn in front for a 2+ save.

I thought about running bullgryn with it but with the list I want to run it is hard fitting them in.
Ok, well I'm just glad that the ADL 3+ will work ... wasn't sure if I would run into a issue or not.
Thanks

Did you not read above, it most definatley will NOT work. There is no way that obscures enough of the model to grant the save. The baneblade is huge, and anyone you trick into thinking this is how it works your downright cheating.

I don't see why it can't. The baneblade is not over 4 times as tall as an ADL

@Orock Ya I did read the posts
- "Theoretically it would work"
- "Remember that the cover save is based on the facing not the model as a whole. I would imagine if you p placed the Baneblade against the aegis that would be give you a 3 plus cover of you had camo netting."
... followed by "You should have no problem. Most players dont blink an eye at it. Cheers."
Anyone else have any reasons why it would not?
Thanks

If you don't plan on moving the baneblade you could always deploy the aegis wall closely most of the way around it, that only leaves a small gap.
And it does obscure 25% of the model, easily

25% obscurity is easy to achieve. Even grots can get up to 50% obscurity on the old school rhino.

One of the players at my club uses this set up every game he plays and relies on his partner to do all the hard work of winning the game; it is ridiculously boring. I played them today and he used a psychic power to give himself a 2+ cover save and a void shield generator. He boasted that his baneblade had never even been scratched in any game. His face was a picture, when in turn 3 my 5 strong wraithguard unit stripped the void shields and with one shot caused 9 hull points of damage.

...none of which is relevant to this thread because:
a) It's offering zero rules clarification or discussion, and;
b) The Destroyer hit in question allows no saves of any kind, so cover saves don't come into it.
As for the question at hand, if at least 25% of the facing being targeted is hidden then the vehicle is in cover. If they are in cover behind an Aegis Defence Line then they'd have the 4+ plus any other modifiers they're entitled to. Simple.

Im bored tonight.
Just measured the BB. (assuming its not on a base) from ground to the top of its (closed hatch - no commander) its 4.5 inches in height.
The single piece of the ADL (not the longer piece) is 1.52 inch.
The BB can get 25% cover behind a continuous line of single aegis. If however you use the longer adl piece the bottom section drops to 1.1 inch (the higher piece of it is still 1.5ish).
does the ADL bypass the requirement for vehicles to be obscured by a certain % and would it work?
No it does not. If your BB is not 25% obscured from ALL of the aegis pieces you are using you dont get a cover save. Measure your aegis height(s) and what angle the fire is coming from and see.

Even with a commander, he is considered decoration, 25% of 4.5" is 1.125". So a short, long, and another short together, or 2 longs together would provide the necessary 1.125" (the taller sections providing 1.5" would balance out easily if it was straight on. It is conceivable that you could also build what is called a defillade fighting position which would even protect from a side attack although Bullgryn have the advantage of also bubble wrapping against close combat.

But mathematically 2 longs + a short averages less than 1.5 which the BB need, so the BB dosent get cover :(
However 3 or 4 x short in a line is ok.

The Baneblade requires 1.125" that being 25% of 4.5" if the lowest part of the segment is 1.1 and it make the overall average height of a long segment 1.36 which is greater than the required 1.125 of the baneblane.
That is just crunching the numbers of course and actually line of site would matter in the end.
