Anyone play this yet? I'm thinking of picking up a Hussite force for it next month.

No but it looks rather interesting.

The latest Wargames Illustrated has a feature on it (as well as some adverts for appropriate miniature ranges) if you haven't yet seen it - some of the mechanics seem interesting, I like the 'glory' victory points and the way that Knights are easier to control if they are charging and running down stuff than getting them to sit back and defend etc.

Reading through the book seems to be comparable to SAGA but without all the propriety dice and cards associated with SAGA.

Doesn't come out in the US until next week but I have it pre-ordered. WGI published an article about it by the author last month.

Have you got me on ignore Manchu? (Realise that you won't reply to me if you have however.. )

Would be interested in finding out what it plays like upon closer inspection. I'm putting together War of the Roses stuff at the moment (using the Peter Pig rules), realise these are intended for a slightly earlier period but would be nice to have something to play about with while I'm building up and painting larger formations.

Certainly not!

EDIT -- but I see why you might think so ... it actually took me a few moments more to finally see the post you were referring to. Maybe it is the Legend avatar?

What really sold me on Lion Rampant is the author mentioned wanting a game that reflected 60s-era movie knights rather than something really gritty in terms of historical accuracy.

I picked up the book today. I haven't had a chance to play it yet but my army will be composed of the following:

Expert Foot Serjeants @ 6 points (12 models)
Expert Foot Serjeants @ 6 points (12 models)
Crossbowmen w/ Pavises @ 6 points (12 models)
Handgonnes w/ Pavises @ 6 points (6 models)

Using models from 1st Corps Hussite range: http://www.1stcorps.co.uk/buy-online/c/1st-corps-figures/late-medieval/1/

There are also some optional handgonnes (sic) rules here: http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/1223592/optional-rule-handgonnes that the author didn't include in the book.

The game is only a skirmish game. I was thinking of scratch building some war wagons and counting them as pavises for my missile troops.
