Keep in mind that the US President (and the British Government too) wanted to bomb the Syrian government a few years ago to pave the way for a rebel victory, just like we did in Libya. And look how Libya turned out... Regime change in Syria is exactly what the US Gov wants.

In other on topic news, we've moved more CSAR assets into theater and have some forward based in Iraq as a result of what happened to the Jordanian pilot.
Hopefully we can get the next poor bastard that gets shot down (or goes down for other reasons) out before he is captured.

How was the pilot shot down? Was he flying at low altitude and hit by small arms fire? A makeshift AA gun? (those jury rigged flak cannons that they mount on trucks). Or was it something altogether more sophisticated? Looted or smuggled military grade hardware, like "stinger" missiles or actual AA tanks taken from the Syrian military?

You know as well as I do that the drop in oil prices is tied to a reduction in demand as a result of higher prices, which enabled production in regions that would have otherwise been unprofitable; creating a supply surplus. This is not a permanent state of affairs.

No real unclassified answer. Heck, maybe no real answer at all. Jordan claims the plane was shot down, Da'Ish claims they shot it down, some in the US attribute the crash to mechanical problems with the plane.
Da'Ish has fired SA-7 types, FN-6 (thank you Qatar) and similar (some of these are very modern, allegedly they have SA-18s and SA-24s) MANPADS at Syrian, Iraqi, US and Coalition aircraft. They've captured many from Syria, allegedly got some from Libya stock, and Qatar supplied some to groups that have since joined with Da'Ish. Other sources contributed as well.

Well that is what christianity seems to be about. Deny everything in the bible you don't personally agree with, change the other stuff to suit your needs.
take marriage for example, god defines marriage in many different ways, christians claim 1 man, 1 women is the only valid way because they know better than god does.
homosexuality is an abomination, divorces are ok, because god understands they had to get rid of that crazy woman.
Point out the evil in others at all times to avoid having to reflect on their own evils. Because jesus had so many nice things to say about hypocrites.
Take fraz a few posts ago, god says "thou shalt not kill" fraz doesn't agree with that nonsense.

You realize that doesn't matter at all. It's just different beliefs surrounding the same god. It's the same with Jews vs Christians. Jews do not think Jesus is the son of god, it's still the same god. It's not the the religions are the same (they are similar, but not the same), it's that the god they worship is the same. Maybe some groups just worship the god wrong? Or maybe they are all wrong?

But I can't expect the taxpayers to subsidize a war based on my desire to eat MREs and sleep in the gun hatch of my hummer.
It isn't about why the soldiers fight, it is about why we are asking them to do so, determining why it is important enough to go further into debt as a country as we send the troops into a war. Determining WHAT we are asking them to accomplish.
Sure, it's nice to know and support the politics about the fight while you're there, but I don't think its a good idea to focus on that gak while youre there. The focus should be on Acchomplishing the mission, and the welfare of the soldiers (or bascially keeping the guy to my left and right alive), and leave the politicing to the guys who are getting paid way more then me to do it.
Sure it sucks playing "whack a mole" with jerks across the world, but whats the alternative. I think we have seen in history what happens when the bad guys win or when we just fight them to standstill. Hell we can look at DPRK for what happens when we don't finish the job ( although I understand why we didn't, no one wants a landwar with china).
Groups like the ISIS don't just make some sort of goal and stop there. They keep going. Once they know that no one is going to make the concentrated effort to stop them they think that its going to be okay to continue. I hate to godwin here, but this has some intresting similarities to pre-WW2 war Europe.
Sucks that we can't seem to not get drawn into it, but i guess with great power comes great obligations. We have seen that we can't count on Europe to even keep their own backyard clear of Genocide (looking at you Serbia/Kosovo), so who else is going to stem the rise and advancment of groups like the ISIL if we don't.
We have to look at the long term consequences. We leave them alone and they continue to spead across Iraq. eventually Iran will get involved, they don't want crazy ass sunnis in their shia backyard, do we really need a repeat of the Iran/Iraq war? Anyone wanna guess how much that will feth with the global economy? Hell we could even assume that Kuwait and SA would get involved as well.

Actually the New Testament doesn't say anything about homosexuality.
Not certain if it says anything about divorce.
I heard an interesting take on the "shalt not lie with a man" thing a while ago. It was a rabbi (I think, could have been a priest) who said it actually was talking about male-male rape. Rape was often used humiliation, like that one story of the guy who gave his daughter to be raped by a mob, instead of the the (male) guest at his home.

Homosexuality is the #1 cause of gay marriage.

Okay, great start.
Now try to compare and contrast the teachings of Christ with those of Mohammed.
Once you do that, you'll see the point that was being made that you currently seem to be missing. Those teachings are very different.
Same god, different teachings.
No. Different teaching, different god claiming to be the same god.
They're demonstrably different. Saying they're the same is like claiming that a Great Dane and a Chihuahua are the same just because they're both dogs.
So the fact that the Quran explicitly spells out that it's the same God doesn't matter, because you don't feel like they're the same, so they're not?
The Koran can say whatever it wants. But my religious book says that god exists in a 3 person godhead, the Koran says the exact opposite. Ergo, they cannot be the same.

ya there's something funny going on in that relationship.
the jews are the chosen people of god
christians say because the jews don't accept jesus they're going to burn in hell
the jews don't believe in a hell though
christians say jesus fulfilled all the prophecies, they jews say he didn't.
maybe jesus was the false prophet and mohammad was the real one.
