If anything, ISIS right now plays right into Israel's plans. It's gone rather unreported that in the past year Israel has really ramped up construction in the West Bank. No one is really paying attention to the profound displays of racism and (Godwin) Nazi like behavior coming from Netanyahu's party (Likud), not that anyone ever really paid much attention to it before, as they try to push all the moderates out of the next coalition.

ISIS is Israel's wet dream XD A giant super bloody news story that isn't Gaza for everyone to pay attention to. Better yet, everyone who hates Israel (save Hamas) is now preoccupied fighting them

The problem is that those kids are not ISIS brand of Muslim and will have to be beheaded too.

If they're the wrong brand why have a relatively large proportion of young adult muslims from throughout Europe gone over? The younger ones are more radical.

Aren't a lot of those European kids who went over horribly regretting their childish stupidity and begging those European countries they came from to help them get back? I'm pretty sure that topic has been all over the news. Am I the only one who saw it?

No, I saw it too, but could not remember the details.

I've seen it, too... but the only people I've heard of asking for help getting back are women who thought ISIS was going to somehow *not* be a steaming pile of misogyny and sexism.

There was that one time I wiped out a town in Nothern Manitoba, but it was just a small town, so I put it down to youthful indiscretion.

That might not be what they mean. In the Middle East "Rome" has been for a very long time (1500 years) a reference not to the city of Rome itself but the West in general; namely this image of a areligious decadent western society.

Meanwhile out here in the Republik of Kalifornia, hippie college students have gotten some of the university leadership to sever business ties with any Israel-bases companies, to protest their "oppression of the Palestinians"...

It's also possible they could be referring to Istanbul, as Constantinople was the capital of the Eastern Roman Empire long after the fall of Rome itself.

Not in 50 years thats for sure, but if they're allowed to become a full nation state who is able to take over their fractured neighbors they would become a long term threat. At the very least, they'd send a constant stream of terrorists back to Europe and the US within 50 years.

And it is disturbing how fast Islam is growing in Europe, plus the proven fact that the younger generations of muslims are growing more and more radical overall. Its a threat you can't deny, although the scope of the threat is still debatable.

Islamic State militants '45 burned to death in Iraq'

Jihadist militants from Islamic State (IS) have burned to death 45 people in the western Iraqi town of al-Baghdadi, the local police chief says.

Exactly who these people were and why they were killed is not clear, but Col Qasim al-Obeidi said he believed some were members of the security forces.

IS fighters captured much of the town, near Ain al-Asad air base, last week.

Col Obeidi said a compound that houses the families of security personnel and local officials was now under attack.

He pleaded for help from the government and the international community.

The fighting and poor communications in the area make it difficult to confirm such reports.

Earlier this month, IS published a video showing militants burning alive a Jordanian air force pilot, whose plane crashed in Syria in December.

Al-Baghdadi had been besieged for months by Islamic State fighters before its fall on Thursday.

It had been one of the few towns to still be controlled by the Iraqi government in Anbar province, where IS and allied Sunni Arab tribesmen launched an offensive in January 2014.

Pentagon spokesman Rear Adm John Kirby told reporters on Friday that al-Baghdadi's capture needed to be put in perspective.

He said it was the first time in the last couple of months that the jihadist group had taken new ground.

However, Ain al-Asad air base, where about 320 US Marines are training members of the Iraqi army's 7th Division, is only 8km (5 miles) away.

The base was itself attacked by IS militants, among them several suicide bombers, on Friday. The militants were eventually repelled by Iraqi troops backed by US-led coalition aircraft.

In a separate development on Tuesday, the influential Shia cleric Moqtada Sadr announced he was withdrawing his forces from an umbrella group of Shia militia fighting IS alongside the Iraqi army.

He cited what he called the bad behaviour of other militia within the Popular Mobilisation Forces, whom he accused of "wreaking havoc through murdering, kidnapping and violating sanctuaries".

Shia militia have been accused of kidnapping and killing scores of Sunni civilians since Islamic State launched an offensive in northern Iraq last June that saw it seize large swathes of the country.

Rather a lot like the "peace" with Somalia...International or American Navy taskforces patrolling the shores to guard against piracy. Border guards patrolling the land borders. The occasional Special Forces raid to rescue kidnapping victims. Punitive air raids whenever some militant group steps out of line and stirs gak up across the borders.

A failed state is a failed state. Contain it at the borders and don't let anything in or out.
