So, as an experiment to see if I can actually do something, I went ahead and put in an order for several Sisters of Battle models. Now, I just can't swallow the corset look of the standard Sisters, so I am deciding on making them more like an Ordo on crusade, much like certain marine chapters. Now, I also plan on using standard marine bodies to build the bulk, but I have read quite a few of the scenarios that tend to frustrate the veteran Sister players. I am planning on heavily working on them, but aside from the specific mark of armor, what parts really tie together the armor and give the Sisters of Battle their spirit? Also, any advice on how to best pull off these ascetics would be appreciated.

So far, I plan on using these ordered models for press modelling much of the iconography. So, tell me if I have left anything out in what can help boost visual appeal?

"There is a cancer eating at the Imperium. With each decade it advances deeper, leaving drained, dead worlds in its wake. This horror, this abomination, has thought and purpose that functions on an unimaginable, galactic scale and all we can do is try to stop the swarms of bioengineered monsters it unleashes upon us by instinct. We have given the horror a name to salve our fears; we call it the Tyranid race, but if is aware of us at all it must know us only as Prey."

I think the helm is a mark of honour that is earned.

Only in one sector according to what research I found.

Don't use marine armour. Or at least, not out of the box. The SoB's charm is that they aren't genetically engineered superhumans, and SM power armour would be much too big for a normal human. I think that using SM bodies, legs and pauldrons would result in a way too bulky finish. I'd definitely trim down the armour at the very least.

As for what aesthetically sets them apart: OTT gothic armour and jewellery, fleurs de lys (or a slight variation of that spelling) and slightly smaller bolters (I believe).

I believe that a Dark Heresy expansion stated that once, but it was never said in 'official' fluff.

The centre of a massive brood chamber, heaving and pulsating.

With a bit of sculpting, the Dark Eldar Wych legs might be good starting frameworks for "dynamic" Sister legs.

My only regret is that only one leg is armored. That being said, I am particularly taken with the Incubi legs, though that would be quite a bit of work to get them to fit well enough.

Using Marine armor for Sisters will be a disaster no matter how good you are at sculpting. As stated already, Sisters are not Marines. They just have the completely wrong silhouette. You have a better chance of using Dark Eldar or Eldar models as a base and sculpting up from there. They at least have the lithe look you will want for Sisters of Battle.

What is best in life? To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women. Grrr.
