I haven't been able to find any discussion or review of the new planetstrike, was hoping someone could either post a link to a review or give their own impression of it. Cheers.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

This might be only a little bit helpful (or not at all!) because I haven't read or seen the new Planetstrike book, but from what I understand, there have been very few changes. A warlord traits table, a slightly different force org...not much, really. Just enough to bring it up to date with 7th and then shine it up a bit.

Yeah it was the force org stuff I was primarily interested in, with them already throwing out the foc's rules, wasn't sure what they could do.

There's some different command benefits, but I can't be more specific than that I'm afraid.

No, death from the skies is a different supplement, focusing on aerial combat.

I picked it up yesterday.
I never played it pre 7th so cant really comment on previous iterations.
However some things that I noticed / stood out:

Warlord charts for both the attacker and defender.
The defender can place as many fortifications as he likes during deployment but also any other terrain as sees fit too.
Stratagems - these range from 1-4 points depending on lethality/usefullness. Both attacker/defender have stratagems. Warlord traits can affect these.
There are several special mission rules:
Firestorm - the attacker gets to make a shooting attack at certain str and AP.
Planetary assault - attacker can make reserve rolls from turn 1.
Shock tactics - any attacker units that have deepstrike and deploy via deepstrike can charge first turn.
Scramble - the defender makes reserve rolls from turn 1 and a d6 roll also dictates the table edge.

There are 6 missions in the book which vary in terms of the victory conditions and stratagems and special rules.
Most however seem to be objective based.

Force org charts similar to the previous edition, attacker is elite and fast attack orientated, defender is more troop and heavy orientated.

Most of the missions seem well thought out and I'll give a few a whirl I think. However its a short publication overall, the pictures are few and far between - theres no "ooo wow" pics.

Anything else just ask.

Thanks dude

The main thing I was trying to figure out was how they made the force org stuff relevant with the new army construction method. Why would someone care about different force orgs when they can already just take whatever they want essentially, that's what I wanted to see.

Sounds to me like the only change is the Warlord Traits.
