It is best to be a pessimist. You are usually right and, when you're wrong, you're pleasantly surprised. |

Forgive me if I'm wrong. But I was under the illusion that Necrons almost always teleport away, with their tech (known as 'phase out'), or self desturct. It's why knowledge of them is so hard to come by/they leave destroyed worlds with people having no idea who the attacker was? I appreciate it does go wrong in some situations, but I thought the majority of captured Necrons were put into stasis to be examined, otherwise they'd tele/selfsplode?
I think the Orks would probably destroy the galaxy, in answer to OP's question. OR, the Meks would realise what it was, due to their 'visions' from Gork and Mork...and then leave it alone, or repurpose it. Orks like a good scrap, so I doubt they'd try and smash 'umiez planets from afar Automatically Appended Next Post: Forgive me if I'm wrong. "And what are the achievements of your fragile Imperium? It is a corpse rotting slowly from within while maggots writhe in its belly. It was built with the toil of heroes and giants, and now it is inhabited by frightened weaklings to whom the glories of those times are half-forgotten legends." |

Yes, they do teleport away, but more than a few times, marines have broken into sleeping tomb worlds.
Also, in this case, if the orks managed to get to the point where they are at the orrery, then they are at the place where necron are likely being teleported back to! They can't beam the orrery out!

As I said, that that's only known example in the fluff of Orks attempting to use Necron Tech at all, and it backfired on them.
Gauss Flayers are also not understood by the imperium at all. It was deemed that their function was "Impossible" so I'm not quite sure where you get that they are understand.
Serious question, but how do either of those hold any weight?
The original argument about this not working was that there were no fluff examples of Orks getting their hands (claws) on Necron tech. This was proven to be incorrect, as it's clear as day in the Necron codex.
The Orks blew themselves up you say? And that means.... jack all? Orks blow themselves up all the time with their own technology, I assume that next you're going to cart out how Orks can't even manipulate their own tech, right? That's the logical path you're going down. Orks blew themselves up in an example with Necron tech - Orks blow themselves up with their own tech. Case closed, Orks cannot use any kind of tech. Deffdreads are just optical illusions, sluggas are bits of wood that vaguely resemble guns, and the mighty power-klaw is naught but an exceptionally large green fist.
Yeah, no.
Also, again... The Imperium (Ad Mech specifically) has declared that Ork Tech is "impossible" on multiple occasions as well. So again, by the line of thinking you are using, Ork tech does not itself exist and Orks cannot utilize it. Stompas are just really big orks painted gunmetal gray and sneezing all over the battlefield.

The Orignal line I asked for was for fluff examples of Orks using Necron Tech, not getting it. If you bothered to even read my post on it, I posted that very example on it saying the only known example of it they were not able to able to use it at all, since it blew up.
If there are no examples in the fluff of Orks successfully using Necron tech, then there is no actual evidence that it can be done.
The impossible part was to a completely different point, did you even read the post I was responding to? That had nothing to do with Orks.

There's nothing particularly unknowable about Necron technology, as it's all based on scientific (as scientific as 40K gets) principles... even if those are principles of the Super-Science variety.
right. They have the genetic backbone to understand, sometimes at a subconcious level, anything that is based on physics or the warp. They also evolve to create new stuff a bit at random. The only thing they do not seem to have the ability to understand, engineer, and loot are other biological/genetic experiments. They havent been able to loot the primarch's geneseed to make super space orks yet. They havent reengineered tyranid viruses to repurpose them to their own use.
For them, human, tau, and necron tech is probably all pretty similar(perhaps human tech has more warp functionality). Necron tech might be more complex, but that would not make things impossible for them to loot. It just might make looting a gauss flayer similar in complexity to looting a IG Chimera. Looting a Night Scythe might be like looting an Imperial Navy Frigate.
Now if Orks are capable of looting archotech space hulks, they could probably loot just about anything given enough time.

I would like to think that some warboss would get pissed at finding something so stupid, pick up the nearest boy and throw him into the field of lights, probably causeing a whole row of them to extinguish/blow up an entire sector.
