Technically it looks quite nice, but aesthetically I hate just about everything I see here.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

It's a typical Final Fantasy trailer.

Graphically stunning, with "gameplay" that clearly is hiding something and a story and setting that make you hate the world.

Speaking of FF games...

I noticed that FFXIII is now up for pre-sale on Steam.

Why?

Because Tomb Raider told Square that the PC isn't a dead market.

I would have thought that Deus Ex: Human Revolution tipped them off to that.

That car, on this road? That makes the rest of the game seems realistic .

That looks almost as dumb as FFXIII.

The people in the past who convinced themselves to do unspeakable things were no less human than you or I. They made their decisions; the only thing that prevents history from repeating itself is making different ones.

Are they going for a GTA + Final Fantasy thing?

I'll be honest... the trailer did make me want to check it out.

Actions define a person.

If I have to be stuck playing that dbag, I'll just skip it and play a better game that lets me customize and make someone more interesting.

Who is a douche? There is no indication on which one is the main character. Even though they seems pretty much interchangeable to me.

Noctis (the main character). To be fair, while his initial trailer appearance years ago was pretty BA, he does seem like a sort of douche

I really don't know what it is with devs and not wanting you to play an honestly nice person, instead preferring to write a "jackass who supposedly has a heart of gold but really just comes off as being a jackass" type character.

Anti-heroes aren't any less cliche, or any more cool, than less grimdark heroes...

Call me odd but I'm fairly optimistic about this. I've always kind of liked the royalty on the run plot and I like the idea of the road trip feel so if they run with it for a while that'll be good. Apart from some of the hairstyles, I actually like the character designs shown here. They feel more subdued than the last few entries in the series, without all the belts and odd cut-outs. Even the giant monster and the glowing magic fountain somehow feel more grounded than is typical for the series. It's clearly got a more modern-world feel to it, which they haven't done since 8.

I really actually kind of like what we're seeing here, which I'll admit isn't much.

Me personally, I'll be interested in FF again when it goes back to more traditional Turn Based combat. That's when JRPGs were good.

I've never feared Death or Dying. I've only feared never Trying.

Probably helps most of the work for the game was initially done by the same team that made Kingdom Hearts. Those were some guys with a damn fine eye for visual design.

You guys remember when Final Fantasy was a JRPG and not the latest Soul Reaver game?

Pepperage Farm remembers.

Eh...

The tech level in the brief "inside the city" glimpse looked roughly equivalent to that of Cocoon in FFXIII.

Of course, since this was originally planned to be connected to FFXIII somehow (and might still be), that similarity in tech levels might be intentional.

"connected to FFXIII"

Hrm, I wonder if it's possible to murder the concept of a game that has already been made...

What's up with S-E and their obsession with FF13? We've gotten like three FF13 games, already...

This is silly! Buttons are not how one escapes dungeons! I would smash the button and rain beatings liberally down on the wizard for playing such a trick!

FFXV was originally called Final Fantasy XIII Verses. Apparently, they decided this wasn't going to work, because the name FFXIII kind of fell flat, and the game kept having minor delays (it's the reason it's taken so long to get Kingdom Hearts III) so they rebranded the game as Final Fantasy XV.

The maker also kinda has this thing for Lightning, trying to push her as the "Face" of final fantasy so hard.

You'd think that after the fifteenth people would realise that the fantasies really are not that final.

My Dad actually refused to buy me Final Fantasy X when it came out, on the grounds that the game company was lying to its customers by claiming that every iteration of the game was the "final" one. lol

The FF series is one of those things where you watch it hoping for the best but expecting nothing, or less than nothing.

Or you know. The full remake of FFVII that everyone keeps asking for, and is pretty much assured to make a profit, that Square refuses to give us
