Love the use of references for the zombie guys. Always fun to see the side by side inspo to result!

The Deathwatch mini has a really nice old school vibe to him - I would have thought he was an old/midhammer sculpt for sure.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for commenting! The Deathwatch marine uses most of a Space Marine Heroes miniature, and they are ‘classic’ marines with scaled-up proportions. The arms are from the Cassius deathwatch set. They’re a bit chunkier than the Heroes body, which I think adds to the old school vibe.

For the 126th round of the Dakkadakka Painting Challenge I entered this Necron.

The theme of the challenge was "weathered", so I tried out some blood effects for the first time. Flicking clear red paint from an old toothbrush to get a blood splattered effect didn't work. I think the old brush was a bit too old, and the bristles were not springy enough to spray the paint. I ended up using the brush to stipple on the clear red instead, which doesn't quite look the same.

I also tried the technique of using PVA glue to make dripping blood, but I couldn't find any so made do with a different type of glue which isn't clear when dry. This meant I was painting clear red over milky white glue drops, so the blood looks very fake.

Still, it was a learning experience, and this necron looks much better than the three I previously painted.
