The aquila was something reserved only as the highest honour in the Crusade or some such. Come the 40k days everyone's covered in a million of 'em. Just something I remember reading in a novel where a Horus Heresy era Dark Angel sees a regular marine with his bling and facepalms a little.

Only the Emperor's Children were allowed to wear the Aquila on their armour at the outset of the Crusade.

It depends. Many Mk 2 armor marks have the aquila worked in somewhere.

The Emperor's Children earned the right to display it on their chests prominently.

Mk7 armour was used during the heresy so a few marines rocking it wouldn't be out of place, as far as I know this has never been retconned

Mk7 "aquila" pattern powerarmour was NOT in production during the Heresy. it was put into production after the Scouring.

The latest mark of power armour at the time if the Isstvan Drop Site Massacre was the Mk6 "Corvus" Pattern that had only been issued in limited numbers for field-testing with the XIXth Legion.

Ofc, the XXth Legion did field large numbers of their own "In House" production variant of the Mk6, in all accounts a superior piece of wargear compared to the Mars-produced pattern, but extant this one instance the Legions do not field any later marks of warplate during the heresy than the Mk4 "Maximus" plate.

I have a little hobby-thread going in the P&M section. Some say it's the best blog on Dakka, some don't agree, most belive it would be better if I finished at least one project some time this century and not just kept starting new ones.
Check it out, you just might like it.

If Mark 7 armor was being produced on Mars than it can be assumed that the traitor Legions gained access to it when they captured the planet.

The SA Flamer Section look very cool, but isn't having ten Flamers in a squad a bit overkill?

As an ork player, I can assure you that is not the case, at least not all in an open topped transport.

Oh yeah, that was the guy I was thinking of, my bad.
But no, that doesn't look like it's him in the jigsaw. Hmm

That squad of Veletaris.. Ohohohohoho.

Not even playing 30k, but I needs.

Only downside I'm seeing is the pain in the arse that those hoses are going to be when assembling them.

Could be lightning claws on the left there? Possibly wings?

Looks like Forgeworld got smart this year and didn't just name the picture in a way where we could type in the next number and see the next pic.

Another Primarch would be nifty.

I'm guessing it'll be one of the characters, but I don't think it's a Primarch sadly. And I'm doubting it's Argel Tal, no matter how much I want it.
