Those of you who are interested in both Infinity and Anime what Anime do you recommend to watch for someone who is intrested in the near future sci fi setting of Infinity?

I have seen a few obvious suggestions like Ghost in the Shell and (A little bit of) Apple Seed but is there anything else you would recommend?

I'll be watching this with interest - I have access to US Netflix and their anime library is far superior to the UK one..

Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex and Appleseed would be a good start.

Vexille is worth checking out, too.

Powered armour, a walled off Japan populated by "recreated" lhosts - technomagic handwavium viral plague thing.

I tried Attack on Titan, but the main kids voice makes me want to punch things.

I was happily surprised to find that they're nearly all subbed though!

I would add "Code Geas" for robots, and urban combat in futuristic utopian society.

Cowboy Bebop reminds me of Nomads.

There's an animated Starship Troopers movie that's pretty cool too.

Oh wow... I need to dig out my Cowboy Bebop DVDs, it's such a great series!

I already watched the 2004 Appleseed film the other day, Shiro is a god.

Tiger and Bunny

It gives a super hero vibe type of show, but the suits the main characters use feel just like the armor in Infinity

Blue Gender is another fair choice to check out

Samurai 7 is about futuristic Samurai's

Ideal if you are a Yojimbo player

Tiger and Bunny could be passed as a TV show on Mayanet (run by PanO production).

I do think you need to apply certain limitations, listing every show with mecha or exoskeleton isn't narrowing it down.

Bubblegum Crisis for sure. Power armour and bikes.

Patlabor is one of my favourite shows.

Samurai Pizza Cats, for showing a world after the Zondbot revolution.

On the US Netflix is one called "Knights of Sidonia." It's sci-fi and some of it may be relevant.
Burst Angel.
Battle Angel.
Armitage III

But the biggest recommendation (Warning, this one's a bit harsh) is Mardock Scramble. There are at least two parts and maybe a third.

I watched one online the other week - some really adult, near the knuckle lines and content that absolutely flies over a kiddies head. Brilliant!

Most of the American voices for dubbed anime sh*t me to tears sometimes. It's not as bad as German dubbed stuff, though.

Gruff guy does ALL those roles.
Sarcastic woman does ALL those roles, etc.

I remember being told that original Japanese language dub is just as bad, it's just that it's Japanese so we don't know.

I think I'll have a look at some English AoT and see just how bad that is.

I know it's not anime but I've thought from the beginning of Infinity that there is also a lot of influence from this stuff.

My family and I actually watch a new Kamen Rider episode with dinner each night. We have been doing the list backwards though from Gaim to Den-O, LOL!

Found that one rather unsettling. Animation is certainly rather nice though, and there are a couple of stand-out action sequences.
