Hey everyone,
Some of you probably know I have a fairly substantial 4k skaven army and its pretty much my favourite army I own (fantasy and 40k) and have poured most of my resources and game play time into them.
I am missing cavalry tho and wanted some army with some stronger units.

I am either going lizardmen or vampire counts (I already own the vampire counts book tho)

Was wondering what a good 2.5k starter army would be for vampires.
I want as low model count as I can since I have nearly 400 skaven models lol
Was thinking about 15-20 knights, mortis engine, couple vamps, 2 big fat blocks of ghouls, terrorghiest, and then I'm not sure. I just want something lowish model count lol

As for lizardmen I would probably pick up 2 battalion boxes, bastilidon, 2 salamanders, slann, skink priest and a stegadon probably

Would those be decent for 2-2.5k as a start? Eventually bring them up to 4k tho but I think lizardmen might be better for lower model count.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Low model count and VC don't jive lol. But That could work with the ME sitting behind the ghouls giving them that regen save. I would also suggest crypt horrors or vargheists for some heavy hitting power.

Ya I agree but I should have said low(ish) haha I was thinking 6 crypt horrors like you suggested but that would probably be at above 2k.
It is just core requirements that make it so model heavy.

Wrote up a quick 2k list using battlescribe for lizards using 2 battalion boxes, stegadon, skink priest, tetto'eko which was 99 models so thats much more manageable than 175+ for skaven at that points level haha

I usually run like 70 zombies and 50 skeletons at 2k. But tar pits are my style of play, I have tried the black knight list but it isnt my style

Shred City.

Start a Lizardmen army.

They are fething bipedal dinosaurs and lizards that use axes and swords to bang their enemies up. They are led into battle by gigantic toads decked out in jewelry who are too good to touch the ground of the planet because chaos has touched it.

They ride huge dinosaurs into battle mounted with a gakload of arcane machinery to blast their enemies into oblivion. If it isn't a beast of burden they're sitting on, it's some sort of vicious theropod clad in armor and a mouth loaded with teeth. Their mages can crack the planet at will and have been responsible for the annihilation of whole races with the flick of their finger. Do you even understand how amazing that is? ANTHROPOMORPHIC DINOSAURS AND SALAMANDERS AND TOADS ARMED TO THE TEETH, WEARING SERIOUS ARMOR, DISCIPLINED IN FORMATION AND READY TO feth gak UP.

Their nation is hidden deep inside an enormous jungle hundreds of miles wide, so thick and impenetrable only those who are chosen see them. Their grand cities are older than the oldest races, and were thriving metropolises filled with artisans, scientists, warriors, and astronomers long before the other inferior ones looked up at the stars and pondered what the twinkling lights were.

Just thought I'd pitch you some fluff-related reasons. Rules change, kickass lore at least somewhat stays the same over time. They have some of the nicest, biggest kits around - tons of large monsters, just one big beast after the other.

^ thats what I run on my 2k 2.4k and 3k lists. It will literally rip units apart especially if your blender lord is a L4 wizard, and you can get vanhels on the unit since you will be wounding on a 2 + anyways (most likely)

This was pretty much exactly what I was thinking of doing. Although I would most likely use 2 blocks of 30 ghouls just because I like the idea of them with poison

I do like the lore of lizardmen and I have to agree about having so many awesome monsters to choose from. It is one of the draws I have to them

Quick question does tetto'eko have the same base size as the slann?
