Interested in what users connection speeds are and where are you based?
What sort of internet options are available etc?

Im running 150mb over a TV cable line (as opposed to phone lines). Unlimited usage per month.

60 mb per second, the Netherlands. Unlimited usage. Sometimes we get free upgrades - I believe my actual speed is 72 mb/ps due to being with the same provider for a long time.

What lofty heights ye live at there. I think I was sitting at an average of 30 kilobytes a few days ago. Yeah, I live in Glasgow (though I'm routed through Liverpool) and with BT. Hey it just means I enjoy games more once I eventually download them. ...That or I use that bandwidth for some good old strongly worded emails.

UK (Kent) - no downloads limits with AOL. However its crap and have yet managed to convince my parents that they can get a way better package for what they are paying atm. Latency is quite good though, certainly beats my friends fibre optic Virgin.

I attain the lofty heights of 290 kilobytes/s download on steam, which is my most consistent performer, i don't upload very much so couldn't tell you how quick/slow that is. Like Wyrmalla i always feel like i earn my games, though i'm not sure if i'll ever try and download my steam copy of Max Payne 3 lol.

Of course I NEVER see the 26mb down/up and the sad thing? I'm paying for 75mb up/down, but then again, I'm on a gakky Verizon gateway.

I'm getting an average about 19mb download and 4 upload, and a ping of 15. And that's not using wifi.

While not terrible, we're supposed to be getting around 90mb. I don't know what the issue is, and I've been trying to get my roommate to call about it since the internet is in his name.

HA! That's the truth. I have the same plan as several local friends (including Whembly, who only lives about 15/20 minutes from me), but I'm the only one with this crappy speed. Rabblerabblerabbe.

And I do have Charter...

Right now, in a hotel room in Istanbul, it's 21.6 mbps down. But not having a laptop with me means that's all I know....

At home? BT. And it's gak. Unreliable connection, spotty speed and it has a tendency to just not work at all

As soon as the wife and I move though, I intend to have Virgin fibre optic. That should be around 90-120mbps. Hopefully....

Get BT fibre optics, that's what I'm on. In my house we have 3 smartphones, 2 laptops, 3 internet on demand TV boxes, BT vision (again through the internet) and my PS3 which can all be connected at the same time for absolutely no loss of performance.

Every time I hear "in my opinion" or "just my opinion" makes me want to strangle a puppy. People use their opinions as a shield that other poeple can't critisize and that is bs.

If you can't defend or won't defend your opinion then that "opinion" is bs. Stop trying to tip-toe and defend what you believe in.

How much are you paying monthly for that?

By the way does anyone use these (or something similar?)

I started using them recently, they're pretty good except the connection will drop for like maybe 3 seconds every so often.
Is that an internal wiring problem you think in the house or?

Its my dad who pays it, I think its around £30? But I'm literally 3 feet away from the thing and my phone is a Samsung Galaxy S4, so its 4 processors which helps.

When using these things, make sure you change the security on them.
Your house is probably on the same phase as every 3rd house on your street. Your kit might be able to connect to every other device of its type, and that could easily be your neighbours'.

As for the 3 seconds thing, you probably have some noisy bit on kit plugged into the mains. In the UK we run on 50Hz AC power, and the AC-powered devices use that 50Hz signal to transfer the power to them. Any other frequency on that cabling is ignored, which is how your Powerlink kit works.
But, if something throws lots of noise on that same cabling at the same frequency it'll knock out your network.
It's the same as Wifi and cordless phones or microwave ovens.
Check things like boiler systems, aircon units. Anything that draws a lot of power, as it'll be able to make a lot of noise. If you drop off the network when the hot water fires up, get an electrician to check it.

Paying for 50 mb/s down 10 mb/s up with a 300GB/month cap (which I will never come close to, even uploading youtube videos every couple days).

I know I've been getting close to that when I tested it before but today I got 5/8.25 (when your upload is faster than your download something is wrong). Then again my internet has been messed up today for whatever strange reason. It seems to just be bad in general on Saturdays.

EDIT: Oh, forgot to mention, in an apartment in Charleston, South Carolina. They require you to use Comcast for your cable here. People seem to love to complain about that company, but other than not liking me on Saturdays I have had no complaints with the service in the time I have used it.
