Against what?
Even with rerolls, she still won't do any meaningful damage to any of the good HQ characters. And, with T3 and just a 3++ for protection, it'll usually take just one failed save and she's dead.

Did you mean point cost or financial cost?
And yeah, Incubi can work, but you have more threats to worry about and less survivability.
Lelith is still a beast, although not as much as she used to be. I only run her in fluffy games, otherwise I prefer a normal Succubus.

I meant moneywise. It's $24 for a single Grot. I'm not opposed to picking up the 3-4 of them to use as a meatwall for my HQ, I just don't like the idea of spending 72-96 dollars for a glorified meatshield. But flipping through the book they offer so much in terms of keeping the Succubus alive....

Have you considered converting some grots? Some Crypt Fiends or Ogrun Warspears (from Warmachine) would be cheaper and probably look better, too.

I have actually. I've seen some really well done Grots converted from Skaven Rat Ogres and of course the Crypt Fiends. That might have to be something I do eventually.

Prepainted Hordes Wulfen (or Beasts of Dirz) models make great Covens conversion fodder. The Wulfen are even fluffy (the Prophets of Flesh turned a bunch of Space Wolf scouts into big wolfy grotesques for lulz once).
I use old Dreamblade minis as the basis for some really amazing grotesque conversions, too. The best part about all the ones I've mentioned so far is that the models are $1-3 apiece. (Can't beat that with a stick.)
Crypt Horror or Rat Ogres are perennial favorites, although the Rat Ogres aren't being carried anymore (instead, I think they have Storm Vermin or some such, which are a little cheaper than DE grots, but not by much). If you're searching ebay and don't mind scale issues, you can always pick up 3rd edition grotesques. They're smaller, but I still pack a squad in case I run into a tournament that doesn't allow non-GW miniatures.

You can also use AoS Ogres. A pack of 6 will only set you back $40. I loved using large squads of Grotesques from the Grotesquerie formation. Each squad had a Haemie with WWP to put them where I needed them. Yeah it meant a min turn 3 charge, but I kept a Dark Artisan formation in cover as a super survivable anchor unit.

Wrack and Talos kits will give you more masks, vials, and antennae than you know what to do with. Wrack boxes also have tons of arms/weapons. Extra Talos arms or Cronos tentacles are popular bits to use for conversions. The spare Defiler masks are good, too. Guitar wire is cheap and makes great tubing. And if push comes to shove, a greenstuff mask and a convincing paintjob can do wonders.

Utterly worthless. Potentially worst unit in the game.
I tried for a long time, but I only run them these days when I need to handicap myself.
The only HALFWAY decent use I found for them was to stuff a Fortress of Redemption full of 'em. The can exit the battlements and still get to the ground AND Charge, thanks to Repel the Invader! and being Jump Infantry. If you buy Void Shields for the building, you can start all your other stuff on the battlements, giving you a protected firing platform or a staging area for a Flat Out/Turboboost assisted drive into the enemy.
Not great, but at least interesting.

Thanks for that, I was looking at units that I was going to pick up for my DE, and I saw them on the gee-dubs site. It's a shame that they're terrible. Seems to be a bad trend for the DE book, most of the units that I really like are terrible. (Wyches, Hellions etc)

I don't think even that works, as when disembarking you still have to end your move within 6" of your access point, despite being jump infantry. BRB p81.
