So last night to celebrate flashback Friday my mate and I broke out the Advanced Heroquest. We ran as a pair of wizards, jade and bright and had a bit of a showdown with some vile rat men, they'd killed everyone, using the solo play rules. Bit of a challenge to say the least.
We also drank espresso martinis until we couldn't feel feelings.
Awesome stuff.

3rd row, leftmost model is an old Ion Age figure (not 40k or GW) but a good haul otherwise.

Along the back of my workbench there are boxes. Old, forgotten, dusty boxes full of abandoned projects and shattered dreams. Plus lead. Let’s take a peak inside:

5th ed Bretonians,
siege gear
Some grenadear lead
squats
WE dryads
Dogs of War
Old chaos warriors.

TGIF everyone!

Ooh, lots of great stuff in this thread!

It is Friday after all, so I'd better contribute. Some Aspect Warriors (still among my all time favorite sculpts) and Marines I painted somewhere around '93-'94, if I'm not mistaken.

Those aren't just Marines painted as Ultramarines. That's the Ultramarine Tactical Squad, just as it was in the box (except the Heavy Bolter, that should be a Missile Launcher IIRC).

Well spotted, sir.

That is because I wanted two rocket launchers for my Devastator squad, so I did a switch.

Very nice. I got that Devastator Squad as well, and was lucky enough to find a Heavy Plasma Gun Marine in a blister pack, so he got to join the squad whilst the Missile Launcher went elsewhere.

God I don't miss trying to figure out which arm paired up with the other to make them actually hold a Bolter in two hands!

One thing about the 3rd ed arms: They all had matching unique details. One pair had little vents, another a raised stud and groves, etc. So you could match them even when cut off the sprue.

I learned this after I had assembled all mine, of course.

Ahhh, TGIF. I posted a WIP before, but I finished painting my RT Lt, and thought I’d share you you fine folks in the flashback thread.

(Ok, he’s not quite done. I stupidly forgot to prime his backpack. He’ll get finished once it gets nice enough to drag out the rattle can)

Enjoy your weekends all!

Same for my Sort-of-Blood-Ravens. I'm not sure I have any old backpacks left.
It's good to have a guide, though.

You made walls, and you tried to knock the other guys walls out of the way and land a shot on top of a tiny dot! I was great at that!

Was there a version that came without the larger castles? I only remember mine having the smaller tower.

Yup. The pic looks like a deluxe box. I have all the parts, but in two boxes, one the basic set, the other an outpost box that has the two big buildings,

Yeah you could win by landing a projectile on the treasure tile (which was usually buried under a castle) or iirc by knocking over all your opponents men.
I cant recall if it was an auto loss if you ran out of ammo too or if it recycled.

I also had the longship expansion and the secondary castle expansion. Yearned for years for the trojan and giant set though
