Hello! I found out Squiggoths and now wonder whether they are anyway viable?
Their stats make them more protected against antitank volleys than wagons. They also can do some slam when delivered the passengers. In comparison, wagons are pretty useless after the passengers disembarked unless there are several guns on them.
However, these behemoths cost a sack of points. So are they of any use in semi-competitive games?
Ah, and a question - can a painboy embarked provide Squiggoth with FnP?

Isn't leadership 5 just asking for trouble?

And no, no FNP. Embark isn't joined to the unit.

Aren't it Fearless? And anyway, if I not mistaken, it's immune to pinning(would be hilarious otherwise) and no way to make it run in case of shooting or when loosing a battle.

It is fearless as long as it is transporting 5 or more orks or within 3" of 5 orks so you don't have to fear it running of the table. However, it is very vulnerable to psychic shriek since average rolling will see it killed unless tou get FnP from snakebite drugs. But it is still a very attractive alternative to the battlewagon since it 6 T7 wounds with a 3+ will keep it alive and stomping for quite some time ifyou use it as a close combat beast or get your boyz to the action safe and sounds, albeit more slowly than a trukk or wagon.

Can someone point me in the direction of where their rules are located?

Thank you!
As I got, despite the cost they are rather viable. It's better to run them just with probably drugs and no jamming, right?
And why they can't ru? Is there any kind of special rule?

Wagons can:
- block los (best use)
- tank shock and ram with s9
- go back and pick up other guyz, not 100% of your vehicles are making it there, right?

They are also WS3, kinda pathetic in combat imo.

WS2, actually.

But T7 3+ armour means nothing short of powerfists or power axes really even have a chance of hurting it in combat. It'd make a great tarpit, especially against weak units that are fearless as well, so can't willingly flee (termagaunts and juiced up conscript blobs, lol).

It's arguable who's tarpitting - the expensive squiggoth or cheap gaunts/conscripts, though

It will make these gaunts and conscripts loose their shooting which is a bucket of dice.
Also why can't squiggoth block LoS? Is that any kind of rule about non-vehicle cases?

It can. But it can get locked in combat with cheap units for quite some time and not as fast as a wagon.

Btw, do squiggoths get stomp attacks in mellee?

Not the little ones. They're just MCs. They get d3+1 HoW hits though, and +D6 attacks if they are wounded.

And cost somewhere around 370? I might get lost in rules.

180 for small ones, 525 for gargantuan.

Yep, i'm completely lost in rusel. Disregard my previous comments

They might be actually useful as manz or burnas alternative to BW - transport.

Or flashgitz - they will be pretty safe on it.

If the squiggoth gets locked in combat, can units embarked on it still fire?

Hmmm, actually it might be sort of interesting tactix cause nothing prevents the passengers from shooting or embarking/disembarking. So, say, you have 10 flash gitz in a squiggoth. And it's getting stuck in mellee. Now the gits can easilly shoot (btw is it open-topped?) and the squiggoth can't be targeted with enemy's ranged weaponry. Moreover, they'll count as not having moved and will fire at bs3.

I guess in some cases you want your squiggoth to get tarpitted

DAT AWESOME!! Really, how to resolve this situation? If it is like you said, Squiggoths are brilliant!

That is what I was thinking. It would be a great way to protect your units from fire.

and for some reason, extremely fluffy.

I will definitely proxy it with my brother's toy dinosaur as soon as possible. Perhaps make an overview of the result.

wow, this is actually a really great tactic.... I bet we will start seeing mass amounts of squiggoths running around with flash gitz.... or anything shooty. lootas? put them in the squig, get locked in CC with a weak unit, then you will have a very protective weapon platform! who needs invisiblity!

YUP its open topped, and I'd assume the guys can get out while its in combat (as gorkanoughts have shown us) and they can still shoot because they are not the squiggoth therefore are not in combat. This is morkin' genius. Time to go buy some toy dinosaurs and build me some howdahs.

EDIT: Also, because it is an MC and cannot actually flat out and make the passengers unable to fire, it is able to run up to an addition D6 a turn and the guys inside can still fire at full BS because it can only move 6" combat speed in the move phase.

The way to mitigate low leadership can be to run a boss with Finkin' Kap trying to roll for a leadership bubble trait.

Its fearless as long as orks are riding on it or within 3" of it, so leadership really shouldnt be a problem.
