http://comicbook.com/2014/10/07/robert-downey-jr-confirms-negotiations-happening-for-iron-man-4/

Kudos to everybody's favourite forgetful fish, as Ellen DeGeneres has gotten a straight answer out of Robert Downey Jr. where countless others have failed.

In this video you can see Downey saying, very simply, very plainly, that there will be an Iron Man 4.

As you'll have seen, he noted that there are ongoing negotiations. It's just going to be a question of how much money his agent can convince Marvel to hand over. Anybody want to place a bet, now, as to how much he'll get away with?

When will Iron Man 4 be released? Why, maybe between The Avengers 3 and whatever that mysterious Uber Marvel film that will follow it might be, don't you think? Maybe we'll get some hard answers out of New York Comic Con. Probably we won't.

Yeah this popped up on my newsfeed. As someone who hated iron man 3.... For many reasons. *cough* the mandarian *cough*. Hopefully this might be a better attempt at making a better iron man movie with the villain being legitimate. And.... not a buzzkill.

With all these super hero movies done lately, it has become hard to even keep a count of all of them.

Yeah, I keep revisiting them all because they are quite good. Its much much better than the 90s when we had no super hero movies.

In all fairness I don't think very many people knew blade was a comic book character, as he was fairly obscure. Does anyone know if it has held up over time? I haven't seen it in quite awhile.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

There were years without a super hero movie.

Bleep you dude. Mystery Men was awesome.

There was also the delicious Michelle Pfeifer as the only Catwoman. meow.

Also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Which sucked but, well it sucked.

There were lots of movies, they just sucked.

I did like The Crow a great deal, even though it spawned many awful sequels. In fact, I can only think of a single super hero film that spun off a good franchise until the Christoper Nolan Batmans.

RDJ made an off hand comment during an interview about only doing IM4 if Marvel signed Mel Gibson to direct. He wasn't serious, but Gibson's on the Hollywood blacklist right now and Gibson is the reason RDJ was able to get a job in the business after being released from prison.

Well, the news community(or at least the internet news community) took that comment and ran with it as real intentions from RDJ.

Mmm, Iron Man meets Braveheart might be kinda cool.

Also, +1 to the mention of Mystery Men and The Crow. Both still hold up as fun comic films.

Well, the news community(or at least the internet news community) took that comment and ran with it as real intentions from RDJ.
From what I saw of that interview, it was more of the interviewer asking loads of leading questions towards that point, and RDJ basically going 'sure, why not' with the tone of a man deciding whether to have sprinkles or not on his doughnut.

Anyhow, based on the Hail The King one-shot, and the revelations it gave with regards to The Mandarin, I am very hopeful that IM4 will a) happen, and b)have an awesome plotline (as long as they don't let Shane Black direct it)

It was a good movie though.

The others aren't "superhero" movies, but they were comic book movies.

O.o

But considering todays audience, I don't think many people know that.

Rocketeer was a great movie. I loved it. But it was a flop.

You take that back! 1990 Ninja Turtles is a good film!

And also, I thought Iron Man 4 was already basically confirmed? Maybe I was just projecting my wishful thinking on reality.

The Spawn movie was terrible. Except maybe for John Leguizamo.

The eternal folly of trying to make what should clearly be an R rated property pg-13.

The cartoon on the other hand rocked.

Blade is still pretty good. I forgot about the Crow. Loved that movie. Loved the soundtrack even more.

I've not watched it in a couple of years but from what I can tell it's still fine. The special effects look a bit ropey. More the part where Frost grows his arm back out of bubble blood.

It's still one of my favourite movie opening scenes.

The Rocketeer was a really good, fun movie!

And I don't know if I'd say it was a 'flop'.

Strong language indeed for a movie that had a budget of $42M and made $62M at the box office! I suppose it 'disappointed' many who projected it to make a lot more, and spawn a couple of sequels...

Anyway, the news of Iron Man 4 - least shocking surprise of 2014?

Well I would be shocked if there wasn't any plans.

I mean we have a pretty huge line up of movies for next year and the year after. (Age of ultron is coming and the art is getting more interesting)

And anyone willing to make a bet on the villain of iron man 4?

After the set up in the short film and terrorist groups being en vogue again: the return of the Ten Rings and an introduction to the real Mandarin.
