thanks i think i will do some more sketching tonight or tomorrow and get down a few more ideas before finally doing like a small canvas board painting.

Pour on some shadows and a dark colored background and you may have something. 40k artwork is less about detail and more about mood.

I don't know what your skill level is, but I would try painting something that looks like it exists in the 40k universe. Like a painting of a famous event.

Something like this, or other famous war paintings.


You could see a high lord hanging this in his palace.

Nice sketch man! Wish I had talent with paper & canvass, but no such luck. There's a very strong tradition of art beyond just mini's with GW IP's. This is probably the most evocative of the 40k paintings, for me anyway.

Absolutely man. I routinely browse through 40k galleries as well as the work of HR Giger, Zdzislaw Beksinski, and Chris Kuksi for my own inspiration on my own little plastic army men.

thanks alot. all in all around 4-5 hours but i split it over two evenings so didn't feel that long
