When I saw this story I couldn't believe it's not on Dakka yet. So, when I read the headline my first response was "I hope she brought enough for everybody." Turns out she did....

A Delaware mother was arrested on Monday after her four-year-old daughter unknowingly brought roughly 250 packets of heroin to her daycare, and passed them out to classmates thinking they were candy, police said.

Ashley Tull, 30, of Selbyville was charged with drug possession and endangering the welfare of a child after her daughter brought the drugs to the Hickory Tree Child Care Center on Monday morning, Delaware State Police said in a statement.

Several of the children who received the small, unopened bags were taken to area hospitals as a precaution, and were later released, police said.

Police said the child unknowingly brought the heroin to the care center in a replacement backpack, after hers was ruined by a family pet the night before.

Tull was released from jail after posting $6,000 bond, police said. She has been barred from coming into contact with her 4-year-old, or her two other children, aged 9 and 11.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing, police said.

$6000 bail?! That's fething it?! For letting her four year old get ahold of heroine. Da Fuq? Kids, plural, could have died from that gak. Give the bitch the chair.

Slightly exaggering on death penalty, but lock her up for 40 years.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

I wouldn't exaggerate. Heroin is BAD !

People who distribute it should be fed to packs of rabid hyenas.

I agree she should face some kind of punishment and am glad that they've barred her from contact with her children, but reasoning like this is the reason the US has more prisoners than both Russia and China, even when including political prisoners. And China has a billion more people than we do. Locking people up for 40 years when nobody actually died or was even injured isn't going to fix the problem. If you are going to lock someone up for 40 years for a nonviolent crime, you might as well just execute them, because they are never going to be a productive member of society, they'll never get a decent job, and they'll just end up back in jail as a repeat offender.

Well, holy gak.... $6000 bail for what is, clearly, possession with intent to supply? That's so many shades of lucky I can't even count. She'd do well to just leave her child with friends or family and leg it. After all, luck like that doesn't come around every day. Oh, and no kid died, which could also be claimed as lucky. Our just having some very eagle eyed teachers...

Quit kidding yourself lefty. If she's slinging heroin people have died. You know it. I know it.
Throw her under the bus.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

$6k bail may well be the death sentence.

250 packets is a not a lot, but the pusher probably cant afford it and her supplier will want to be paid.

Lets her go was a smart move. DEA will be all over her like a plague and looking to see what happens.
Pushers are not stupid enough to out their suppliers, but they may well contact them from outside to set up a plan. After all not doing so sets oneself up for recriminations.

Pot doesnt matter, but a heroin supplier is someone worth having. I bet that between her one phone cal and the judge setting bail all the ducks had been lined in a row to monitor her once she was let out as bait. This pusher isnt sxmart and therefore might let out too much now she is out.

I doubt that with heroin and kids involved she was set a low bail out of kindness and leniency.

She probably has 6k sitting around, if she had 250 "packets" of heroin also sitting around... and no, I don't think you're exaggerating on her needing to Ride the Lightning

Although, on second thought, they probably set the bail at the ridiculously low 6000 for one simple reason:

She'll want/need to replace the money/product that she "lost" so in all likely hood, she'll head straight to her supplier, with an invisible "police escort" and allow the 5-o to make an even bigger bust

I would not assume that, at all. This would imply the narcotics police want to find someone higher up the food chain.

You never know... they may want to find him/her and ask them to run for congress or something... It'd certainly be an interesting economic policy to run for office on

I could see that. Its a common tactic. Damage one of the carriers making them want to get money for their supplier and leading it straight to her supplier.

I don't think people realize how casual these people are. They aren't as shady as people like to believe.

We had an Airman who recently arrived at Bagram Afghanistan. The Dining Halls have weapon racks where one can leave their weapons while eating (Gawd forbid if you were Army and done this) Apparently he locked his bolt to the rear, had a full mag inserted, slotted into the rifle rack and dropped it three inches. "BANG"...we had local Afghan's throw their hands in the air and not move while a series of rifles went into lock and load...I had built a "perfect" burger which hit the floor as i and everyone else went scanning for the shooter

Was the weapon defective or something? I'm assuming it was an M16 or M4, which shouldn't have fired from an open bolt.

A properly functioning M16 shouldn't fire from the bolt going home though. A weapon like that should be considered completely unserviceable unless repaired. Are you sure that's all that happened? Did the trigger get caught on something, perhaps?

Negative That would the M16A1 series

Remeber the one time I was issued with one rifle that I could shift the lower and upper receivers like 10/64 inch and the thing still worked. I never fired it in burst though

Part of it is the military. Often times you'll see what are, by TM "deadlined" items in service, because there "isnt any money" to repair or replace the item. I can't tell you how many times I've had a "fully serviceable" firearm where this was possible.

Of course, I was part of the REAL military, and I knew to not leave it on a rack in the mess hall, and I damn sure would have properly cleared the weapon prior to entry of the dining facility, etc.
