Which Space Marine legion should I play?

Hello people of DakkaDakka. With the winter season coming up and my wallet looking for more Carbohydrate crack to blow money on, I decided to further my holy work on a Legiones Astartes. As before, I want to do Terminator spam because 1) Terminators are cool and 2) It's the cheapest way to do 30k.

I was originally going to with the Ultramarines but eh.. now that I think about, it's kind of a passe force. When people look upon my army they aren't going to see a Horus Heresy legion. They're going to see smurfs. But still, they are my favorite SM chapter/legion.

I don't know. Dark Angels look kind of cool and they do like Terminators. I think. Then there is the Sons of Horus who have nice models. Hmm.

What Legion should I play?

Well, Justaerin termies are on Sons of Horus...
But only Imperial Fists have storm shields. I'd say they make the best termies around

No One can Tell you what Army to Play.. Be aware that with 30 ku wont have much games to Play.. Not many People around playing...
For termis... Go with SoH

I would go with DA. Easiest way to bounce back and forth between 30k and 40k, should you want/need to. Also, DW are a very solid Termies only army, and can give some stupid good buffs to Land Raiders

Any non-chaos legion would be fun since you can also run most of the models as 40k with not much of a problem.

I am running Death Guard but can also use them as the Space Marine Chapter Sons of Medusa since they use the same emblem,.

Iron Hands.

The Rite of War is ridiculous. -1 strength on enemy weapons that shoot you will buff the Terminator's toughness ridiculously. Inviolate Armor, indeed.

Also, I play the Mechanicus, so any time we're ever near eachother we can be best buds and bring the Omnissiah's retribution down on our foes.

If you want Terminators, Death Guard is the only way to go. Deathshroud are pretty much the most badass bodyguards in existence

I voted Emperor's Children. Just imagine squads of beautiful Phoenix Terminators riding onto the battlefield in style inside Stormeagles with Fulgrim at the front.

What do you enjoy painting? Terminators a terminators a terminator. I think Sons of Horus and Night Lords have the coolest paint schemes. SoH is likely the easiest but one of the best looking schemes out their in its bluish green and black armor. Night Lords have them beat with their dark blue and lightning bolts. All the Legions can field all terminator armies, some have better specialist terminators than others. Night Lords let you deep strike, Fists apparently have storm shields but obnoxious paint schemes, Iron Warriors have full cyclone missile terminator squads and fairly simple schemes with hazard stripes. Alpha Legion I think lets you infiltrate or any other number of special army wide skills, with a difficult to master scheme.

Hmm...so the HH era Salamander Firedrakes I have are not carrying Dragonscale pattern storm shields?...

Iron Warriors (Ironwithinironwithoutraaarghblaargh), Iron Hands (the Flesh is Weak, after all), or Dark Angels (because robes are awesome!).

I voted blood angels as I think their history and looks are thes best? How can another chapter best the closest thing to real angels in battle.meoon their codex will put them back in higher competition ratings making them more desirable again

You shouldn't paint anything because of what others prefer. You need to go read some stories about the SM chapters and I'm sure from their backgrounds you will find what chapter fits your heart

Honestly? I like all of the legions. Except maybe the Night Lords but I could grow to like them. It's why I made the thread so I could get some suggestions. If the Imperial Fists didn't have such a PITA paint scheme I would've picked them long ago for my 40k marines.

I was tempted to do Dark Angels too because termies for them are dirt cheap to get.

I still think iron hands are the best. Weight of fire works waaay less well on their terminators because Bolters wound on 5's (regardless of your formation and whatnot)!

Yep. You change the base ranged weapon (rules at HH 3)
