The Starter AP Rifle Janissary is significatly different than the older giagntic Janissaries, but it's still very similar to the new HMG guy.



The Naffatun, however, are significantly different. If anything, the change of the Naffatun may justify a completely new starter box with completely new sculpts. Maybe we'll have a Janissary there.

I was looking at those models of mine side by side last night and there is a considerable size difference between them so I would not be surprised to see the AP Rifle Starter being replaced unless the HMG is intentionally put on a larger dude than the rest of the models.

That would make sense. They seem to be making the "hero" figures on a larger scale so they stand out.

Anyone in power armour should be chunkier and taller than someone out of it.

With the potential exception of Fat Yuan Yuan.

I have no doubt whatsoever that they'll redo the AP Rifle design. The sculpt didn't really match up with the Janissaries all that much anyway.

Depends wildly on who the distributor your retailer of choice is using.

Usually we get the announcement the month before, with releases hitting mid/late the following. So for your Naffatun--announced in May, available around this timeframe of mid to late June.

Okay, thanks! I plan to put a mahoosive order in for more Haqq goodness at the end of the month, so hopefully these bad boys will be available then.

Haqq is also due for a new vanilla starter box. That's why I don't see the old AP rifle Janissary to be around much longer.

I wish they didn't have to nix everything in that box, but none of it aligns to the current look for Haqq. Ghulams have been redone, Janissaries are now being updated, Naffatuns are also radically different, and the Hunzkut ... well they're one of the woefully underutilized profiles because they've never had a solo release.

Haqq needs the attention though. They've gotten by for a while because overall the older stuff has aged well, but time has caught up. A Djanbazan box is REALLY overdue.

Very true! I have played Haqqislam for years and I couldn't even tell you what a Hunzkut is

I do like the current AP-rifle Jannisary though, although the big beast seems to get killed in every game I use him as (although he is sometimes a good holoprojector illusion for the Hafza Lt. hiding in your deployment zone)

Interesting point about the Ghulam - the Doctor in the Support box will be the odd one out, as it follow the starter Ghulam design.

If we are talking about new starters, we should perhaps consider speculation about a new Operation Icestorm set. I mean, that was two updated starters, right, plus a couple exclusive models. If they bring out a new Yu Jing starter (that faction has a super old set of starters) at the dame time as a Haqq one, then package both in a box with a new variant of the mototronica stuff, then I have no doubt that it, too, will sell like a highly desirable thing. Even vets could reasonably be interested in a reaculpted starter for their faction, especially if it has a unique model thrown into the mix...

That would be great, and I'd buy it in a second.
It, and the recent minis, have definitely made me shelve my Haqq from a painting perspective though as I know that the scale shift will drive me bananas and I'm going to want all new models.

Has a second O:I been brought up by CB or are we just assuming that another one makes sense?

A Yu Jing/Haqq Icestorm style box would be fantastic since I'd not only b able to buy it myself but I'd have someone to split it with.

We have no word, but I REALLY hope they make a boxed set a la O:I to go with the HS release. With how well Icestorm sold, they'd be fools not to.

That said, we've already seen an Aleph terrain pack. Given how prominently Aleph and Tohaa are featured in the Parsido & Human Sphere one would think they'd make a box out of those 2 starters instead of Ariadna, YuJing, or Haqq.

Looks like we're about to get another Icestorm style starter. They did this before for PanO and Nomads prior to that. Plus the near confirmation that we're getting USAriadna models means I think it's likely.

They also did reveals like this before the release of Ko Dali 2.0 and some other smaller products deemed important. It really could just be the release of the USAriadna Starter Box and no Icestorm-like box.


I recall Bostria mentioning several times that he's very excited for the USAriadna set primarily because it would appeal to the American audience.

I'm fine with it not being another Icestorm starter box. I don't need to plunk down $100+ and have to keep watching for preorders so I can get exclusive figures. I'd be much happier with a regular release starter set.

Here's hoping that it is the USAriadna box and that it's full of tacticool army guys.

Taking into account how much new packaging costs, I would not hold my breath for another two-starter-box.

Awesome miniature. I think that the idea of the bow is a winner. Even if the weapon is not super effective, the miniatures look superb with it.
Can't wait for the Ninja with tactical bow!
