Considering he never got a model and his TAG design got scrapped anyway, I'm not that broken hearted. The only downside to that is that the only character TAGs left are Achilles and Scarface. It would be nice to see some others.

Her TAG design (the Tikbalang) hasn't been scrapped, the non character Tikbalang is still around, it's just Toni being removed. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave the normal Tikbalang climbing plus though, or change it in some other way.

Nope. He's not a Septober release though, as he wasn't listed in their set of stuff.

Best news is the inclusion of Oom and Helot in the Varuna sectorials.

Interesting bit about the US making up a portion of the population on Bourak. Nice to have that bit officially confirmed.

Are there Native Americans in USAriadna?

Yes. USAriadna is the most ethnically varied faction of them all. You have WASPs, Latino, Black, Native American and others. The names of USAriadna bases come from the Indian language – Navajo, Mohawk (Field triage) or Arapajo (FOB).

They should never have ever tried to put down any kind of ethnic breakdown for USARF.

Ever. Only an idiot would need to be told that "USARF is the most ethnically diverse of them all", as the US is a country which (shock! gasp!) consists of tons of different ethnicities!

When they first described USAriadna waaaaaaay back when, they did something stupid.

They said(quoting here) that:
The USAriadna contingent consisted of predominantly African-American and Latino Rangers with Caucasian and Asian-American science personnel.

Rather than just say that "USAriadna consisted of a cross-section of the United States' population", they doubled down on it.

Also this is the first mention they've made of Native Americans, so I'm thinking that they had some fans finally beat into their skulls that "Latino != Native American" in the eyes of most of the US population--and the Native American population.

They're European, Kanluwen. They understand the USA-- and its 'identity politics'-- about as well as the average goldfish understands non-linear differential equations.

Where are our previews already? A glimpse of a Nisse coat, bah! More, please.

They have a background where a more forward thinking and progressive sect becomes dominant in Islam. Put that next to "And in the future, those people in the US who didn't get killed off in that grey goo debacle embrace their racial differences..."

Roughly equal treatment.

Oh please. Transpose that gak straight on to pretty much any European society and it's just about as cringe-worthily awful. There's no excusing that one, really.

You guys are missing the news though, more alien allies for the humans! And they're fish people, to boot!

Maghriba is still being designed – options are being explored as the model is too heavy to be cast in metal.

Kind of odd. Looking at the sihlouette it's going to have less metal in it than the Avatar and possibly the Jotum, which are both mighty bulk lumps of metal.

They're not allies...

"Helots" are natives of Varuna, a PanOceanian held world.

There's this thing going on there called the "Helot Revolts".

According to the link above, the Helots and the "fish people" are implied to be different entities

Anything about the natives of Varuna?

Nothing solid yet. The Oom “fish-men” and Helots will appear as a playable part of the Varuna sectorial, though!

Just going off that link though, this is my total understanding of the matter.

Do we think that they'll be...reviled?

(I couldn't resist!)

The RPG KS is off to a rousing start now though - much more so that I'd thought for day one!

They said they're being included in the Varuna sectorial, so I'd class them as being allies, at least in gameplay terms. Fluff-wise, I'm guessing they're as much allies as the Antipodes are though.

Then that's another retcon, as they made pretty firm background that the Helots were not friendly and they were in fact the "fishmen".

If they can make Antipodes help out, willingly or unwillingly, I don't see why they wouldn't be able to do the same to the Varuna natives. Besides, it isn't like the Combined Army aren't a threat to them as well.

That's not what I meant by saying "that's another retcon". Control devices and the like are fine and dandy.

The Helot Revolts are what supposedly mandated the creation of Varuna's anti-terrorist forces--which is why the Cutter TAG exists, and also why the Croc-Men and Kamau are part of Varuna and not another PanO Sectorial.
Said Helot revolts are also supposed to be a VERY recent thing.

I don't think it's going to be that much of a retcon as you're expecting. CB didn't really give that much info about Varuna and its native in the first place beyond the fact that the Helot exist and that those revolts happened. I'd say wait and see with this one before claiming there's been a retcon. Maybe by the time of Acheron Falls, relations between the Helot and the human population have improved.

The name "Helot" says some very unpleasant things about PanOceania's attitude to sapient rights. So much for them being the good guys.

Mind you, did it ever say anywhere that all of 'em revolted?

I'll be watching the new minis/fluff for PanO very closely going forward. Still have their half of the Icestorm box that I haven't decided on a direction for. Varuna is a frontrunner, depending on how the Helot business turns out

Also, the part about the U.S. in the background, where they've fallen out of power due to rushing into and losing an ill-advised war, hit a little too close to home.

Helot, because no company would force slave labor, in a government where each planet can have their own different ruling system and mega power companies are the main support of the government. It also not like the book are slowly giving info on the Infinity setting, from a in world perspective. It is not like the have ever put out fluff that a named character was a guy then when the model is released it turns out the military grade in setting fluff wrong.

Ohh... What they do stuff like that all the time.

P.S. it is not like Tohaa are a primitive race only found on one planet, like the M3 fluff would have us believe.

No Recon needed we just didn't know the rest of the story yet. Same thing with the Helots.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

September 22nd and we've only just gotten the first actual preview from some new partner/blog, a French site called "trictrac".

Not sure why the Hunzakut female is rocking a patented Ghostbusters trap, but hey.
