Thoughts?

I was really gunning on running Ezeikel, Tigirus, & Mephiston all in a 2000pt game with CADs. Not sure it that would be competitive but I always thought that would be totally awesome! Now him being LOW...I would have to bring in a taxed HQ for the BA Detachment. I reckon they are going to make him pretty damn mean or keep him the same with a minor boost?

What is bothersome to me is that there are no C:SM Lord of War characters. This is a good thing and a bad thing to me. It is a good thing that allying different C:SM chapters doesn't come with an HQ+Troop tax to get that cool character you like, but on the bad side, it is kinda a way to get a third HQ level character into your army. So SW, GK, and BA will all have ways of getting three HQs, but DA and C:SM won't. I could see Azrael and Calgar being made into a LOW, but people would probably complain about that. Can't think of many others, though.

Honestly, I don't really get the point of LOW though.

When BA gets their update, they'll pay 65 points for a Librarian. Wouldn't that be a cheap tax to increase your amount of warp charges, thus boosting your power psykers?

On the other hand, Orks, Wolves and GK get Ghaz, Logan and Draigo, and anyone else can then bring their Thunderhawk, Baneblade, Warhound, Phantom Titan...

Which is exactly the point. Its GW allowing players to use expensive superheavies in the hope that it will encourage sales.

I could see that. The fact he is the only special character from Imperial Fists makes that a little harder though. Helbrecht might work too.

hm, this rings an idea in my head: what if Chapter Masters could be only LoW/Unbound? It would be like that old 1500+ rule to field then, but with even more backing from the rules (FoC and all that)

It will be Calgar, the "Uber" HQ of the Marine codex as he has been since 5th Ed. Even now he has the "Must be your warlord" clause. Dark Angels will have Azrael. Necrons will have Imotehk or the Silent King or something. CSM will have Abaddon, Tau will have either Farsight, Shadowsun or Aun'va. Eldar will have the Avatar (who may actually get good). IG will get Creed or Yarrick or maybe even the Fortress of Arrogance if we're lucky. Nids will get the Swarmlord. DE would have got Vect had he had a model.

BA is the only one that's not so easy to say. Dante is their overall master, like Draigo, Logan, Calgar, Azrael nd Abaddon. But he's not their most physically powerful. The Sanguinor is (fluffwise) much more powerful, able to go toe to toe with Bloodthirsters. Mephiston is on a similar power level. So unless Dante gets a serious power boost (maybe strike at Int, among other special abilities) it wouldn't be him.

I always thought it might be Sanguinor, but he's not reliable enough to be a LoW fluffwise.. He just shows up when you really need it.
Dante is just Dante.. He's too average in his profile and gear to be a LoW; he's more the tactical awesomeness.
