As per the title- this book is showing as No Longer Available on the GW UK site. Could we be in for a new one? Or maybe they're discontinuing it in favour of the individual guides?

Look for the ibook version of it.
If that's gone too, expect a new version.

There wasn't an ibook version. Or at the very least there hasn't been one for quite some time as I looked a few months back

They periodically revise that title and I'm guessing a new one is in the works. If they didn't already, they'll likely update it to include the new current list of paint names. in any case, silly gamer, everyone knows that the most fun part of the Hobby is purchasing official GW products and they still let you do that.... direct only in most cases!

I wonder if they are going to do more of the books they did for Space Wolves and Dark Eldar ie an army specific book. Also the basic book is a bit redundant if like me you paint in front of your PC. The recent GW painting videos on You Tube have been very good I would rather they made some versions of those for the basics. The DVD with the book had that but I think they should have free ones on their youtube channel.

Uh, yeah. Unless they're renaming the paints again, then it already has the current paints listed in the book.

they have added a bunch since the first release of the new set (eg the edge stuff and the technical),

so if they've run the stock down they might well be going to add a little bit on using those before reprinting

Also, the original plan was to expand your book with tutorials from the White Dwarf, but seeing as that's no longer the case..

IDK about that- they've come out with some nice paint guides in WDW of late IMO.

I mean, before the redesign and split into a monthly picture book and weekly mag.

They are terrible compared to the old Eavy Metal or army painting articles from a few days ago.

I like the YouTube videos though - much more useful than the new WD articles.

In your opinion. I've found them to be useful.

It could be a minor update -- the current guide doesn't have the technical paints (and some of them, like nilakh oxide and blood for the blood god) are pretty good. Plus, there are the Edge paints, and the spray gun and propellant are replaced with the dubiously available basecoat sprays.

And, of course, they could update some of the photos and models.

The french version is still available on the Canadian site but the english (US version) is no longer available.

It could be they are updating it OR they are going to books for specific armies only like the space wolves painting guide or dark eldar.

Makes sense that they make in depth books for each army that would be nice.
