Looks like Tumblrbusters to me.

A fat one, a black one, a weird one and at least one of them is a lesbian / "transgender". Wait for it!

I don't know why that would bother you, but anyways to me it looks like they were just as likely cast for their comedic credentials.

I saw Ghost Busters for the first time earlier this year. Kinda Meh movie, but I was born in 94 and saw Batman and Robin like 8 times at the movies because I loved it for some reason. Definitely giving this movie a miss.

You know that the original Ghostbusters (first three) had two Not Ready For Prime Time Players too? (Akroyd, Murray).

The first one was a campy classic though. i don't think you can remake that magic (they couldn't for Ghostbusters II) and not seeing why you should try.

It is one of the ONLY Science verses Religion films were SCIENCE WINS!

The Characters did not have to go find some spooky amulet, talisman, or tome to banish Gozer, Zul, and Vince Clortho. They used technology, created by Science, and capable of being used by anyone with a little bit of training to take down the bad-guy.

They did not have to "accept" some half-baked inspiration of how maybe their Sciences are not up to the task, and that the so-called "Supernatural" works by rules that are knowable and consistent, just like the rest of our universe.

In other words: There is nothing "super" about the "Supernatural," it is just another extension of the natural world, which requires tools and technologies to work with (just like one needs a microscope or atom smasher to work with the very small, or a telescope (Visual or Radio) to work with the very large.

And. . . I will BET ALMOST ANYTHING that they screw this up with the sequel.

Err... what? I think you're taking the film far too seriously. It's a sci-fi film... which means that anything in it is related to some sort of pseudo science. It doesn't set up any kind of fight between religion and science. I genuinely think that you're looking at it with some confirmation bias, you're seeing what you want to see.

Apparently you did not watch the video.

I am not the one who made that observation.

The FIRST to make it was the Sci-Fi Author David Brin.

Which was then picked up on by several movie critics, this one making a video of the concept.

But the sources supporting the argument are very well documented, and the producers have confirmed a lot of the meta-analysis.

I'll wait for the trailers, but I'm not a Melissa McCarthy fan at all. She's on 14:59 of her 15 minutes of fame, I'm hoping...

Ditto.

As for David Brin, I liked the Postman novel but then he went and let dances with bad movies ruin it; the highlight of that movie was Tom Petty.

Agreed.

It's not the female cast that puts me off so much as this female cast. And if Hemsworth's role is what it appears to be...it's probably not an approach to the material that I'm gonna dig either.

The real problem with Ghostbusters is that any sequels or reboots were ever made. The original film as a standalone story is a near perfect comedy.

Glad I'm not the only one to hate her. With Kronk and Fraz on my side, I know I'm right!

All I'm gonna say is that I would have emphatically agreed with all of the people crapping on Melissa McCarthy, right up until I saw Spy. It was legitimately hilarious, and in turn, gave me hope for this as well.

She's been in enough crap that, despite the positive things I've heard about it, I have no interest in seeing anything with her in it. To be fair, I didn't think she was funny at all in Bridesmaids, but I did quite enjoy Wiig in it.

If they had to go with 4 women (which I still don't understand), I'd have selected from this list:

Chelsea Peretti
Wanda Sykes
Sarah Silverman
Mindy Kaling
Margaret Cho
Amy Schurmer
Kristin Schaal

Personally, I'd have rather seen any of this group vs. what they brought to the table.

I'd have more preferred a mixed gender cast instead of this....

She has her moments but she's a one-trick pony and we keep getting slammed in the face by that trick with all of the movies she's been in recently.

@cinceydooley
I agree but the downside of most of those ladies is the movie would not be PG at all.

Maybe the script sucks and that's why they couldn't find better actresses to take the roles.

That one looks good.

I think Shumer can be really funny when she's not doing the "I'm a woman that's not afraid to say 'pussy' schtick."

Don't know why she's getting credit for that, as there have been a ton of comediennes unafraid regarding language in the past (Sandra Bernhard, Lisa Lampinelli, Sarah Silverman...)

I don't understand complaints about the original all male cast, or all female cast, being a problem, that's what guys are like at university or when they set up some project together. Guys like their boys clubs. I know diversity is great and all to depict but men and women like their all boys or all girls clubs.

I don't care a twist for all boys or all girls. I just wanted full frontal and I'm not getting it.

Remember the original's full frontal before you wish for that.

Who do they have playing THAT role?
