I think it was going to be an 'introduction to the world of the supernatural' with the girl as the audience and hero and C as the jaded tour guide.
It was then pointed out that C is the 'hero' and the show should actually be about him. So they actually listened and have changed their game plan, which I'm pleased about as the pilot left me unmoved in any direction.
I am certainly enjoying 'Penny Dreadful' a great deal more.

I do believe we are getting a female recurring character that is not from the Pilot.
Oh, positive of that. I was on IMDB checking who the woman from the first episode was and thought it was weird she was only in one episode. The other female lead is in 7 or 8.

Yeah, that is exactly where I got my info. I figured if she was some special child she would definitely be in more as a recurring character.
I watched the first episode of Penny Dreadful and LOVED it, but I do not have Showtime or access to it. So I cant watch it :(

Oh my god, Constantine is The Doctor. He's a Brit whose home's bigger on the inside, he's got a psychic paper fake ID, and a new female companion.

It is pretty true. Although I doubt we'll see the Doctor coating himself in blood and doing rituals anytime soon.

I find those scenes hysterical for some reason.

So far I like the show. The theme is perfect, there just needs to be an improvement on the chemistry of the characters. While I really like the character of Constantine, it's can't just be about his mannerisms. Character chemistry is what keeps shows like Supernatural going.

Just saw the third episode and while slow at times, I thought it was pretty good. This version of Constantine is certainly growing on me. The best part is that the writers aren't afraid to go down roads that most shows refuse admit even exist.

It was either that or regurgitate the "Scooby" motif yet again.

It also occurred to me today that he has a friend who comes back to life when he dies.

I thought the third episode was the strongest so far. I hope this is a sign of the show catching it's stride so it doesn't flame out and fail. I see promise.
