Elysian Drop Troops. They have one of the best looks of any guard faction and have a great back story with looks of source material.

I really do like Cadians, and I'm not much of a "special snowflake" kind of person in terms of what I want, but god are the models awful. The look, art and 3d models in DoW2 are excellent, but I'll pass on the bobbleheads.

Followed by Krieg. They're a bit heavy on the grimdark, but in a way more sophisticated than SKULLZ, SKULLZ EVERYWHERE. They also exemplify the human wave, not one step backwards, drive the super-human nigh-unkillable xeno/creature from the void with courage, determination and by point of bayonet.

Therefore, I conclude, Valve should announce Half Life 2: Episode 3.

DKoK, followed by Vostroyans. Cadians come bottom of the pile for me; despite having potentially great fluff the models are bland. DKoK models are fantastic, plus they are rare, something which Vostroyans also share. Third would be Mordian Iron Guard for reasons above.

Yeah, mordians. Apart from blacksails, I don't know what the rest of you are screwing around with.

Every other guard regiment is all like:

Except for mordians, who are more like:

That is all.

What sort of self-respecting guardsman wouldn't get dressed up to do battle against demon-spawn and killer robots?

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

The Valhallans.

The WW2 Soviet Army theme looks cool and fits with the basic idea of "drown them in bodies and bullets" that I love about the Guard. Plus, the Soviet Army had officers who pretty much functioned as Commissars

Honorable mention goes to the Mordians if only because they allowed the Praetorians to be made in the first place.

For mother vostroya! Their mustaches bring all the girls to the yard. They also probably have some of the best training and I really dig the WW1 Russian imperial army / tsarist vibe.

Plus regal great coats for the win. And now a days they're probably rarer to see than DKoK. DKoK are the new cadians. Everyone and their mother have them.
