Subject: 1000 Point Necrons (Thoughts?)

Looking for some thoughts and tips on my 1000 point army.
1 Overlord, staff of light, mindshackle scarabs, sempiternal weave
1 necron lord, staff of light, res orb
10 necron warriors
13 necron warriors
8 Immortals, tesla
1 ghost ark
1 annihilation barge, tesla destructor
3 wraiths, 3 particle casters, 1 whip coils
3 scarab bases
works out to 1000 points on the button. 10 warriors in the ghost ark, the lord goes with the 13 warriors and the overlord with the immortals. Barge provides some good fire power, wraiths just get up there and mess things up and the scarabs head for a tank.

Well, you need more mobility in form of another Ghost Ark, a Night Scyhte or veil of darkness.
Wraiths should be taken in units of five or six and DLord would be nice to tank wounds.

I don't like the list much can you not take the squad of 13 warriors out of the list and build on what you have?
Like this list for example
HQ
Necron overlord - 130
Warscythe
MSS
Semp Weave
Necron Lord - 80
Staff of Light
Res Orb
MSS
Troops
10 warriors - 130
10 immortals - 180
Tesla
Dedicated Transport
Ghostark - 115
Ghostark - 115
Fast Attack
3 Wraiths - 150
3 Particle Casters
3 Whip Coils
Heavy support
Annihilation Barge - 95
This list comes to 995 points you have 5 points for something though I can not think what for it seems more organised but has less firepower than your list but you got an extra vehicle out of it.
Can i ask why did you put 13 warriors and 8 immortals in the list and not 10 and 10?

But with a list like that the second ghost ark doesn't have a squad of warriors to go with it. Rather drop the wraiths and get a ghost ark and beef up the 13 man squad to like 15 instead. Plus id still like to keep the scarabs

Instead of a ghost ark take a nightscythe the reason i say this is because 13 warriors can not go in an ark as it can only carry 10 so for;
10 warriors the ark and for 10 tesla immortals take scythe.
its just more manuevarable i think.

I personally would look at something like this:
HQ:
Overlord, CCB, MSS, Warscythe, Phase Shifter Sempiternal Weave, res orb 285
Lord, Warscythe Res Orb 75
Storm tek 25
Troops:
20 Warriors 260
Ghost ark 100
5 Warriors 65
Night Scythe 100
Heavy Support:
Annihilation Barge 90
Total: 1000 on the nose
This is using some of the models you seem to like and some of the better units in the codex, such as storm tek + warriors in a night scythe, Bargelord and Annihilation Barge

Take a look at the 7th edition chariot rules and the current 7th edition necron faq. The CCB is one of the most powerful models in the Necron army, second only to the stormTek in my opinion.

Just so you know wraiths can only take one piece of optional war gear, it's an or statement not an and statement.

Nakedseamus you are indeed correct thankyou.
Ok just the whipcoils then on the wraiths I have personally never played a CCB or against a CCB (this doesn't help that I believe I am the only person within my area who plays Necrons).

The same people that write every codex since the beggining of the hard backs. "The games workshop writing team" or something like that. And yes, Necrons are going to be annihilated in the new update, increased points cost for night scythes, annihilation barges, and maybe wraiths. Fixed CCB, no more 6's on snapshots with tesla. It's going to be awful.

Well I guess im not using the CCB right haha. Anyone for a quick explanation on how it works and how to use it properly?
Automatically Appended Next Post:
Heres my little revised list from part of yours! I didn't really think I needed the Sempiternal Weave as the barge gives +1 to my armor save anyways. Also swapped immortals in instead of warriors as I love tesla (or am I better to keep warriors for tank killing purposes?).
Overlord, CCB, MSS, Warscythe, Phase Shifter, res orb
Lord, Warscythe Res Orb 75
Troops:
20 Warriors
Ghost ark
5 Immortals, tesla carbines
Night Scythe 100
Heavy Support:
Annihilation Barge 90

You'd be better with 5 warriors with a stormtek, If you were to take immortals you would be better of with gauss anyway because it is better at rapid fire range. The stormtek is amazing at taking down vehicles able to strip 4 hull points, usual 2-3 by himself, and for 25 points, it's great value!

Isnt the cryptek 25 base points and another 25 points for the storm upgrade? Or are you talking about just taking the valtaic staff for free?

Frankly the best equal best codex writer is no longer with the company (Matt Ward), so unless you get Jeremy Vetock (the other best writer), then be prepared for having one stand out unit in each section and everything else becoming meh.

CCB did alright. Got up a lot (and I mean a lot, 3-4 times a game until it finally died) but other than that it just tied up units, did a few sweep attacks... killed a drop pod, part of a command squad, and some bloodletters, nothing spectacular...
But man the stormtek was amazing with the immortals in the night scythe. Drop em in by a tank and its dead haha. The stormtek even singlehandedly killed a soulgrinder in one hit! Deffinatly worth the points there!
Any tips for the CCB though? Obviously im doing something wrong with it???
