I like them, the first thing i thought of were the old D&D Sahuagin and sea elves.

I also like the Mantic elves, so take my comment as you will

And the sea elves are in and greater obsidian golems/earth elementals are next.

Your last point is especially laughable and comical, because not only the 7th ed Valkyrie shown dumber things (like being able to throw the troopers without parachutes out of its hatches, no harm done) - Irbis

Update #27 Dec 1 2014

Big Stompy Rock Monster

And done! That’s the Forces of Nature Naiads funded! This hard plastic kit is now available to add on to your pledge for $15.

Let us know which concept you liked the most.

We’ve included 40 of them in the Forces of Nature Mega-Starter Army ($100) and 20 in the Forces of Nature Starter Army ($50), which have now been added to the front page.

Up next, a fan favourite…

NEW! BONUS $330,000 – Abyssal Dwarf Greater Obsidian Golem/Forces of Nature Greater Earth Elemental

You wanted it, you got it.

This metal monster kit includes enough components to build either a Greater Obsidian Golem…

The Abyssal Dwarfs already have Lesser Obsidian Golems, and there will be alternate components thematically similarly in the big brother kit.

… or an Earth Elemental for the Forces of Nature. Or any other particularly earthy armies, Dwarfs perhaps?

Greater Earth Elemental

Elementals are creatures which personify the elements from which they draw their names. Earth Elementals are large creatures the size of an Ogre, formed as their name might suggest of living earth and rock. Their power is drawn from a geode of powerful mineral contained within the centre of their bodies, making them exceptionally difficult to stop. Though slow and ponderous, they are tremendously powerful and almost unstoppable. If destroyed, the power of their dissolution creates a shockwave which will flatten all nearby, friend or foe.

Sample concept art, not final design.

Sample concept art, not final design.

If we hit this stretch goal we will produce the golem kit with variant options to build a Greater Obsidian Golem or a Greater Earth Elemental. It can be field by any good, neutral or evil army.

We will:

- Add one Greater Obsidian Golem to the Abyssal Dwarf Mega-Starter Army ($100)

- Add two Greater Earth Elementals to the Forces of Nature Mega-Starter Army ($100)

- Add one Greater Earth Elemental to the Forces of Nature Starter Army ($50)

- Make the kit available to add on to your pledge for $15

Add your Forces of Nature army on to your pledge or choose it as part of your God of War pledge. For a full of all of the contents in the Starter army and Mega-Starter armies check out the Kickstarter front page!

Cyber Monday and the return of the Tyrant!

Not only is it the last day of the Kings of War Kickstarter, it’s also Cyber Monday – and that means deals!

At around 1:00pm GMT we will unleash a new torrent of Ultimate Tyrant ($850) pledges. It’ll also include a sparkly new Forces of Nature Mega-Starter Army too.

These are highly limited in number so don’t miss your chance to get one!!

Next up

Our next goal is going to be one for the masses - and then one from the Abyss. Don’t miss it!

Mantic elves are great, you guys are just blind.

Also I think putting "Sample concept art, not final design." in large bold text above and beneath the golem picture means they realise that's a pretty crappy first drawing.

Until the day I die, I will remain convinced that whoever sculpted the elves miss judged the size and made the 3 UPs too small.

I still like them, they are just a little too slight and slender.

You'd have thought that they would have had more than enough time to get some drawn if they had been planning things properly

I am hoping for some Abyssal beasts/cavalry/chariot type unit - maybe a multi-role kit - to give the army some speed

The old Wood Elves in the early 90s were my favourites - Mike McVeys Wood Elf army is still one of my favourites!

Anyway, Mantic have said the art will change for the Golem, but it doesn't hurt to remind them.

I think they just decided to do the Kickstarter 2 weeks before it actually started.

And I am sure they have been thinking about new models for quite a while - if not in detail then at least vaguely what they want it to look like. They seem to have enough artists involved that getting a good sketch knocked up wouldn't be that hard

People were clamoring for the golem thing pretty hard though, could be that they weren't planning it for next or even soon but they pulled it forward to please the crowd. Maybe.

Gonna be a lot of interesting things to sift through on the pledge manager.

I know I'll get flak for it, but I kind of like the vaguely Godzilla- like/ reptilian shape to the rock turd.

And that's not just because I'm highlording it up- it's something different from the usual pile of rubble that constitues an earth elemental.

I have no idea how they'd make that compatible with a greater golem though. I'd hoped for a 4 armed abyssal golem also.

Guess I just need to chase down a Titan Forge one instead.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Luigi is doing us a new version of the Golem at the moment. Two sets of arms, one armoured and one not, one rocky head and one armoured. Looks much better!

And yep, kept the crystals.

although I'm certain it will keep the little tiny legs on big monster look (which I like on the trolls, but not on anything else so far)

direct link https://db.tt/QYNr7iXa

looks like this may be a Greater Obsidian Golem or a Greater earth elemental depending on what extra bits you bolt on

The none Blood Bowl looking one is a very nice concept for the mini. Similar, but different enough from the Lesser Golems.

I did not like them until I owned some. And then I realized they are sculpted with form fitting leather armor. Then it made a hell of a lot more sense. Now I have an army of them.

I've painted up the metal model the bones was based on, and it's a great elemental.

They're really more of a wood elf/grey elf than a pure high elf look. When painted in more natural colors, they look better.

I have a huge army worth I bought up over the last 5 years, mostly on the cheap. I dread to think how many points of mantic elves I have in unopened boxes
