I know every army is a battle brother to itself. But as an ork player it sucks I have no battle brothers to do cool combos and tricks with. Yes I know any one can technically allie with any one with penalties. It would also get me to buy stuff other than orks.

Any one else think every race should have one battle brother ?

Poor tyranids , orks and necrons. For ever alone =(

I would like combined codex in the form of supplement for some really fluffy army like blood axes mercenaries, genestealer cult or traitor army just to name a few. Allowing part of one faction and another faction to be mixed together and act as if they were battling brothers with new warlord traits, formations,...

I can always dream.

I'd prefer if you could chose Klan when playing as Orks, similar to the SM doctrines.

Bad Moons: Can take Shootas on Boyz for free, something to due with their teef, etc.

Snakebites: Restrictions on technology, +1 toughness for all Orks. Something to due with Gretchen.

Goffs: Boyz move faster when walking

Deathskullz: something with lootas and meks

Evil Sunz: every vehicles has the rule fast (may be a little OP...)

Blood Axes: Can ally with the Imperium as BB, Allies of Convenience when taken as an allied detachment to other Orks. Can take Kommandos as Troops

Not sure about the balance, but this kind of system would work great and give much better lore-based games.

I don't think every faction should have a Battle Brother, this is the 40k universe where everyone and everything is at each others throats, and there is only war. I think some of the factions that *are* battle brothers shouldn't be (e.g. Grey Knights with Imperial Guard, Space Wolves and Dark Angels, etc).

To be fair, those 3 races are seeking to destroy EVERYONE but themselves (except orks, who also love fighting each other), so it makes sense for them to be forever alone

Tyranids should be allowed to take a *limited* percentage of points from another Codex as BB, to represent a Genestealer Cult.

Set it at, say, 25% of total points to be spent on units from one other Codex (with some exceptions, perhaps, like Codex: Necrons is denied entirely, as they are not subject to gene-stealing) to represent the forces of the Genestealer Cult.

Necrons... no one likes these guys.

Orks should have the Klans as separate detachments they can ally with. Total missed opportunity on GW's part there.

CSM should be allowed to BB-ally with the IG to represent the Traitor Guard. Even Traitor Guard are not going to be best buds with Daemons though.

I dont think everyone should have a battle brother of another army, I think keeping to the lore is a good idea. But I do think that those without one should get some kind of consolation. In 6th I would say another FOC of their main detachment, but since you can do that normally in 7th im not sure what to do.

Necron mind-control tech, Tyranid Brain-leeching Rippers, and Blood Axe mercenaries. There could be fluff justification for something. A percentage like Psienesis would make the most sense to me, or a restriction of only infantry(and maybe their transports) would not be out of the realm of possibility.

They should make a dataslate for the gorka-morka human road raider type people. That would add some flair for the Orks and maybe some interesting combos? Just a thought...

Those would be cool, especially with a return to some Vehicle Design rules, so you can have your own kustom war-buggies and what-not.

Overall, though, yes, most armies should have one close ally, even if they are not full-on Battle Brothers. Not all races have the wherewithal to develop that kind of trust with another species.

Personally, I think CWE are foolish to trust their dark kin that much, but, well, it's their funeral/bondage party.

Genestealer Cults should make Astra Militarum into Battle Brothers or atleast Allies of Convenience for Tyranids. Some sort of special rule using a Patriarch HQ. But the fact that Tyranids get nothing does bother me. Even Necrons can sorta ally with other things, but Nids are red boxed across the table.

So I wouldn't say 'Battle Brothers' for everyone, but an Allies of Convenience somewhere at the very least should be a standard.

Currently, Battle Brothers is just a way to create a lot of broken combinations. It seems unnecessary at the best of times - let alone with GW's abysmal balance.

Furthermore, I'd like to see more effort put into books that can stand on their own. Allies shouldn't be necessary to keep a book competitive or deal with specific targets.

Tyranids want to eat everybody. And they're not exactly a race you can negotiate with y'know? The only things on their agenda are breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I think in terms of gameplay they should just make it this way: if both players agree any allies on both sides are battle brothers. If either player disagrees any allies are allies of convenience.

Fluff wise all you need is a bit of imagination. Imperials fighting with Tyranids? That's clearly a death cult, influenced by bio engineered psychoactive drugs, released into the target planet's atmosphere by hidden spore colonies.

Necron fighting with Eldar? Obviously an aeon-old treaty, forged in ancient times before both races' downfall, which now must be followed - reluctantly.

If it's looking weird you're just not imaginative enough

Well the new IA:13 lets Traitor Guard BBro with deamons or CSM, though deamons can't benefit from the cool stuff as much as others since they have to have the deamonic instability rule (Unless that's changed recently). So they don't really get to BBro.

As to guard and nids, it was only ever the stealers that they were chummy with. So you would have to limit what they got to chum up with as part of an army.

though the meatshields would come in handy for them.

do think it's a shame for those who don't get to benefit from brothering.

But would definitely agree with the others who would rather just remove the love-in that is splitting characters into other ally units vehicles, etc.

My group has allowed us to BBro irrespective of faction for 4-way games. Only time I've got to play on the same side as my mate's Eldar. Was fun! (Still got over-ran by orks and puppies in the end tho).

I'd like to see limits like that for all armies, to be honest.

I would love to see allies completely gotten rid of (along with fliers), but for things like Genestealer cult, I would prefer an IA book similar to how traitor guard are in the newest IA.

I quite like how allies were done in some of the old books - like the 3rd edition SoB one.
