Subject: Using CSM Rules to play a Genestealer Cult-thoughts?

I have collected a good number of models in my day, and I'm now in possession of:
-One DV worth of Chaos Cultists
-A Wyrdvane Psyker
-A Space Hulk set worth of Genestealers+Broodlord
And I was thinking it would be cool to try using the CSM rules to create a Genestealer cult army. There's the obvious cultists=brood brothers, Sorc=Magus, Pumped up Lord=Patriarch, but that leaves me with
Purestrains: I could just Unbound 'em up and call them a unit of genestealers but the 40k rules for genestealers are so aggressively meh. I'd love for them to be the monstrosities they are in Space Hulk, I'm considering using them as Warp Talons, fluffing their deep strike as the 'stealers jumping out of hiding. The scary scream rule they have would work so well...
Hybrids: Posessed? Spawn? I'm planning on getting an IG and Genestealer set and going to town with them. Automatically Appended Next Post: Also, what would you consider to be a realistic thing to bring for heavy weaponry? Could they have stolen a Demolisher Leman Russ for use as a Vindy?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"
"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"
"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"
"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!" |

You could possibly try the traitor guard from IA, I understand quite expensive, but might be able to help you and can ally with regular CSM. Just an idea, otherwise seems interesting.

You could also just take a Nids detachment and an Astra Militarum detachment, converted to look like hybrids. They would be Come the Apocalypse allies, but would work fine together.

I'd need a Nid Hq that isn't a massive hive tyrant. Is the broody an Hq?

Tyranid Prime might do the trick for you. I don't have my 'dex on my, but I think it's just 80 points or so and it's basically a fancy Warrior? I don't actually play 'Nids, so I'm not sure of the model. Automatically Appended Next Post: The Broodlord is effectively a Genestealer Sarge. He would be part of a Troops unit. Automatically Appended Next Post: You might want to chase down the rules for the Praxis Zeta WarhammerWorld campaingn from a year or two ago. It had rules for Genestealer Cults led by a Magus. No points cost though.

I think this would work just fine, heck you could treat the Purestrains as CC Chosen could you not? The Broodlord would be a Champion/aspirant...?? The run one or two Sorcerers as HQ dipping heavy into Telepathy.
Also, what would you consider to be a realistic thing to bring for heavy weaponry? Could they have stolen a Demolisher Leman Russ for use as a Vindy?

They sound like a good fluffy army list. I would love to see what you got when it is all said and done.
