None. I might play on the general public opinions of some of the bands I like (such as Nickelback) but I never truly feel ashamed to listen to them.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

KISS is basically the "Britney Spears" or "Justin Bieber" of rock/metal. They put out fairly "crap" music that is easily sellable and palatable to a large audience. Of course, KISS does, apparently from what I've been told, put on a kickass live show, which I can't really say for the more pop type artists

I never was into KISS until I went with a friend to see their Reunion tour to see what the hype was all about. It's not hype. Now they're not Slayer or anything in terms of making you forget you're a human being, but in terms of bombs and fireworks and so forth, I've never seen anything like it....and it makes you think about their music in a whole new way. Of course, they're senior citizens now, so who knows, but when I saw them, it was something to behold.

I wouldn't say ashamed per say. But I have a remarkable weakness for the songs of the Wu Tang Clan, and ODB's solo stuff as well.

That and I can't get this

Spoiler:

Out of my bloody head!!

But apart from that, nothing really. Oh Britney Spears I quite like.. Hey this internet anonymity is pretty darn cool... My usual music of choice would be Metallica, AC/DC, Slayer, Zepplin, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Pink Floyd etc etc. With a smattering of Tool, The Clash, Clutch and some Whitesnake..

If you like Tool and Clutch, you need to check out The Melvins (on the off chance you haven't already). Awesome band.

I've heard that song referenced a lot recently, so I gave it a try.

It was a painful 5 seconds of my life that I'll never get back.

So.

I actually do like Fleetwood Mac quite a bit. I don't know if that's lame or not.

There is certainly no shame in enjoying the Wu. On top of being AWESOME, they're also one of the most literate hip hop acts ever.

I like some stuff from a lot of bands.

There's also a lot of stuff from those same bands I'm not a fan of.

Nothing I'm "embarrassed" or "ashamed" to like, though.
I might even like them for different reasons from other people.

For example - BVB "Fallen Angels" - Are these guys "for real" or just pisstaking the metal genre a la "steel panther".

Or MCR - "welcome to the black parade". Why is the singer trying so hard to channel "Freddie Mercury"?

I like loads of music, however, Amon Amarth is one of my favorite, my current wife says if she had known I liked them she would not have married me... Satan worshipping junk she says, I'm like it's not either, it's about war and such I say, it is Viking themed... Coolness. So I listen to my great music on my own in the man cave or the car by myself.

I guess I don't care what people think about my taste in music so I'm not ashamed.

Probably Evanescence. Though I haven't liked anything they've done since they had a big rift some years ago.

I like Katy Perry, but don't feel bad about it. Some of her music is pretty good.

If she had called it Odin worshiping or Thor worshiping, she may have had a point

Similarly, I recently played some Ghost for my wife, and she's like "I kinda like them" (she's a christian), so I respond with, "you do realize that their schtick is that they're Satanists, and all their songs are about Satan rising, etc.... right?"

I saw them in concert.
I also saw Genesis and Dennis DeYoung (the former lead singer of Styx)... I do adore ABBA, they're the only band I own every album they made on vinyl so... I'm a tad more then a casual fan lol

ODB was "as rugged as burnt buildings in Harlem" The Wu are indeed awesome, and GZA's "Liquid Swords" is one of my favourite albums.

This. Do I understand the lyrics? Not really but dang their music is catchy...

Also ashamed to like Backstreet Boys, Human Nature and S Club 7 among others (Which is weird as I'm typically not into that kinda stuff, but I suppose it has something to do with their music being a part of my childhood)

On a similar not, people tell me I should be ashamed because I like Fun. and some of Paramore's music, but I don't (feel ashamed, that is).

There is nothing wrong with the bands in the OP's list....except Warrant. That gak is lame. If he had written 'Nelson', I would lobby for a full one month ban.

Kingdom Come, the German Led Zeppelin rip-off band from the late 80s, is my only skeleton music closet occupant at the moment. Saw them live opening for the Scorpions in 88 or 89 baked out of my mind and thought I had time traveled to see Page et al. circa 1976.

At least Backstreet didn't have to auto-tune their voices

Well, a lot of Dakka users have left their 20s, so have gone through the 90s fully aware of their surroundings and the 90s culture...and you could not get past the Backstreet Boys. And - well, let's face it. They made good music. Same as Nickelback imo. It's not deep, far from it, but it had catchy tunes, was well-written and could be enjoyed without paying too much attention to the music on its own. Just like Nickelback. When you're out on a joyride on a sunny afternoon, we just put it some Nickelback and enjoy the ride.
