My post history should show I'm usually one the first people to get annoyed at this kind of stuff and Blizzard has far from the world's best track record with this stuff. I'm no fan-boy of blizzard when it comes to their character designs, heck this is the company that gave us Kerrigan with her feet literally morphed into bio high heels.

That said the game honestly has a healthy variety of designs. Do we need a super cleavage sniper? Probably not. Does the super cleavage sniper exist in a context with lots of alternatives and a variety of designs? Yes. I mean you're kind of cherry picking here. Certainly window maker is a character in the game, but so are Pharah, Mei & Zarya. You could do far worse than Overwatch's and more games do than don't.

Overwatch is offering one of the more diverse sets of female character designs in a recent big studio release. While it's less than maybe what I'd call ideal but on this I think the team is owed some credit. I mean any game garners the hate of the mouthbreathing "<three letter acronym that always causes trouble on dakka>'s are ruining everything" neckbeard crowd must be doing at least some things right.

Oh, yeah it's certainly a big improvement...but still...it's far from enough. Look at this way, it would have taken less effort as far as textures and models go to NOT have the catsuits crammed up the butts. Someone actually took the time to model and texture it that way. Who the feth, outside of Tesnexus's god awful community, bothers with that crap? I haven't looked at enough gameplay videos, but for all I know the breasts and butts bounce as well...

It's just such a WTF to me that I can't even fathom why anyone would do that. The whole issue extends far beyond gaming culture and just humanity in general. Are we (males) really so obsessed with sexuality as a species that we absolutely have to make to sexualize women in every context? It just so happens video gaming and anime happen to be two of the worst offenders in that regard. Now, women are from blameless in this...you have to take accountability for your actions...parading around as nude glamour model, half naked cosplayer, pornstar, instagram "model", etc for money, attention, and fame is almost as sad as being the guy that supports that filth.

Edit: Yes, I am fully aware of the irony of me having a shirtless selfie as my avatar.

And some people are making a fuss about litteraly anything. Because a whiny minority that doesn't like a small thing in a game doesn't mean they should alter it just for them. I know almost no woman that would have a single problem with the outfits or Tracer's old pose. Infact they liked it. And if you don't like it take one of the other female characters.

Thankfully the aesthetics are great and the gameplay is a lot of fun, especially with friends.

The game has no jiggle physics to speak of if that is what you mean.

Do you get how patronizing and really quite condensing this post is? There isn't anything "Sad" about showing tits if you want to show tits be it for money, attention or just the plain old lulz. Sexuality isn't "Filth". Media & Games do have problems with over sexualization and sexualizaton in odd places but that's hardly the same as every bit of sex appeal out there being somehow bad.

Also, since when has male cleavage at any point been comparable to female cleavage from a sexual standpoint? Last time I checked a woman can sue if you touch her chest. Can a man do the same? Nope. I'd go as far as to bet the majority of people that actually get hot and bothered over a shirtless male are in fact homosexual men.

Depends on how the woman touches the man. If a woman walks up to a shirtless guy and starts running her hands through his chest hair, then yes, there's grounds for a suit.

And the ladies *love* fit guys without shirts (Roadhog need not apply). Every last one of my female friends that I've quizzed on the subject (and I started quizzing when one of them brought it up to begin with) thinks that the perfect Marvel movie would consist of Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Chris Evans (Capt. America) shirtless for the length of the movie.

I actually think that fits in even better in the modern day, the tight pants at least. I don't know what kind of environment you work in, but where I work there are at least a dozen women in my building that wear skin tight yoga pants EVERY SINGLE DAY. Why would female video game characters dress more conservatively then the women we see in our every day lives?

Doubtful my reaction times could keep up with this. Seems veeeery fast paced and edge-of-the-seat stuff.

I've been playing it on my Xbox all afternoon, and I've had nothing but fun.

Wow, the last two pages gave me cancer.

But now that I'm playing OverWatch, I'm cured. It's a blast, scantily clad men/women and all.

I like Widowmaker the most, followed by Junkrat and Bastion!

I'm assuming you can level up and learn new abilities or get new weapons like other games? Did they say if they are going to wipe everything after the beta? Or can you keep what you unlock so you'll have a head start in the final game?

I believe everything will be wiped about the beta.

From the start of the game, you've unlocked all heroes and everything they can do - you can, however, earn XP and level up. Every time you level up you get a "loot box" (or something along those lines), which contains random voice lines, skins, sprays, victory poses, and so forth.

Cool .. so when the game starts to you pick your character, or can you always play your favorite one?

One thing that really annoyed me in Rainbow 6 Siege was if you have a favorite that you leveled up a bit and you want to play, you can't play them if someone else in the game pics them first.

You can pick whoever you want, but the game will recommend you pick one from a certain "type" if your team doesn't have any, for instance. ie, "No support in team yet"

How good is it, its fething awesome. So reminiscent of Timesplitters in the over the top madcap joy its beyond belief.

Lost three hours on it tonight, and my boys love it as well, silly little things like the play of the match, which I've had more times than I'd expect, and my boys had it six or seven times in a row earlier when they where taking turns with Bastion who they both now think is the best shooter character ever.

The extra skin unlocks, voices, loads of little touches to have a slightly different take on the character to other players, I can't see how its not going to be a blast once live.
Although I'm half expecting to see Reaper kill squads by the end of the beta.

My wife wanted to have a look and 'accidentally' played for almost 4 hours last night. It is so very easy to just keep playing. Just one more match....

On that note, I still have a spare beta key...

I caved and preordered. Pretty fun so far, there was one kind of annoying match, I think the map was in nepal or something like that. We had to capture an area, and the other team just played these turret guys and camped in the corers and picked everyone off so easy, it just got kinda pointless toward the end.

I've been playing Bastion I think, flying around tossing rockets everywhere

The best counter to Bastion (the turret bot) is Genji or Reaper. It's stupidly easy to flank with Reaper and Bastion takes triple damage from hits to his rear core (the glowing blue thing in turret mode). Or have Genji take lead with his blade reflect and watch Bastion literally destroy himself. Tracer can also be very hard for Bastion to track up close. Mei's ice wall will also get you through a gap as with Reinhart's shield. And there's always Hanzo's heroic.

If you're flying around shooting rockets you're playing Pharah. She's also excellent for getting the drop on a camping Bastion.

Yeah, I meant Pariah.. and I use Bastion too, his tank mode is fun. And that map I meant was the temple of anubis I think.. you capture the objective areas, but the last one is right next to the other teams spawn point and they can easily run right back and keep stay on it. Seems like the only way to win on that board is to be on the team that gets to defend.

Yeah there's a nasty middle path on that one. You can flank right and get up close but you run the risk of hitting them as they come out of spawn. There's also a left flank and if you have Pharah, Genji, Hanzo (maybe, might need Mei's assistance), Reaper or Widowmaker you can actually flank all the way to the objective.

I'm still learning the maps but there's a ton of little nooks and paths for the more mobile characters to go.

On one hand, I kinda like how it's an even playing field and you don't unlock uber weapons and skills that other folks won't have, the skins and emotes and stuff are fun. But on the other hand I kind of feel like it might get stale without some kind of real advancement options. I hope they have plans for lots of DLCs with new missions and maps and stuff to keep things fresh.

Ah that's why I was killing Bastion so quickly with Ratpack, his little grenade firebomb thingies often ended up exploding behind due to their bouncy nature.

I've literally not had this much fun in an FPS for years, not since pre-everything-is-about-hats-now TF2.

Been playing since the public beta went live(yay insomnia) and I've only stopped because my stomach is trying to claw its way out through my chest to find food on its own

Can't decide whether Tracer, Mei, Junkrat or Lucio are my favourites yet, but it's a testament to Blizzard's design that they even managed to make me like a tank character(Roadhog), which I normally despise in any genre.

I'm really beginning to enjoy Roadhog myself, too.
