I'm still using Pharah and Bastion the most. I get all giggley when Bastion makes his little wall-e/r2d2 kinda sound when he turns into a tank. And I play the sniper girl sometimes too.
What annoys me the most though is that guy with the chain pull, when he chain pulls you.. I've never ever been able to get chained and live. Yet when I tried playing him, I couldn't do it. Is it a power? or a combo?
So, in the videos it looks like there's clearly a good guy and bad guy team.. how come everyone is allowed to group together? it kinda feels like there should be 2 or even more different factions going.. or is it just like this for the beta so you can try out every character?
Is there going to be any kind of story? It would be cool if it was at least something along the lines of Titanfall where you can have an intro before each mission.

The chain pull is Roadhog's ability, just like Widowmaker's grappling hook.

I have been really enjoying it, but I can see how it wouldn't be for everyone. I think as it is right now, it could become kind of stale pretty fast so I'm hoping they have a lot planned for adding new content, even if it's just game modes and stuff like that. I really hope they don't try to adopt a WoW timeline for DLCs..
I really like how everyone has access to the same skills and gear, you don't get squashed by people 100 levels above you with everything unlocked when you're still stuck with a lolnoob gun.

Considering they're adding new maps for HoTS and SC 2, I'd expect new content for overwatch. New modes, maybe even automated tournaments, who knows.

That's taste for ya. Most peopel I've talked to love the The Witcher games and I find them absolutely painful. I fell asleep during Captain America: Winter Soldier , a movie all my friends loved. Overwatch just not be your cup of tea. That said, if you're asking what others like about it:
I like variety in the Heroes and that I can easily find a tool kit that suits my skills and mood. I like that I don't have to worry about loads outs, unlocks, pickups or other kinds of customization or performance variability. Mei is Mei and she'll be Mei on any map after any amount of playtime.
I like the large impact ultimate abilities, which give even a scrub like me a chance to shine. I'm pretty poor at aiming but if my timing & positioning are good I can get some work done.
The game has a real feeling of flow and movement. Genji can dash, McCree can roll, Pharah can fly, Hanzo can wall climb, Mei can boost with walls, Rainhardt can charge, Winston can Jump, Lucio is just fast. Heroes that don't have some way to do more than just walk and do so in a way that's unique to them are the exception rather than the rule. It just feels different to navigate on each Hero and how I position and interact with enemies changes as a result.
I like the pacing. The maps & timings are well engineered and my games seem to end in Overtime! on the second point or near payload landing point more than they don't. Matches where I feel relaxed and totally in control are few and far between, there's tension. The matches are super short and character switching keeps them from getting stale or frustrating If my current character is having trouble with the situation. The ultimate charge system also makes for great natural break points.
The aesthetic is something that's universally gotten praise in my group of friends. Big budget games in general and shooters specifically have been very sort of gritty, "realistic" affair in recent years. Even when the setting is fantastic with crazy jet packs and laser rockets you still have rusty industrial levels and the equipment feels practical. You might have jetpack but it feels like the jetpack a real military of the real future would have. Overwatch is bright and colorful and a touch cartoony. If someone had shown me this same roster and told me it was for a merchandise-driven Saturday morning cartoon, or some kind of rubber-suit Power Rangers type production I would not have questioned them.
When you open up the beta you're greeted by this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pwFu8kEsUW4
Contrast with the openings of other shooters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AJ0TBS8ycv4 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RBVeCHd6Dw4 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvn1k6__yTc
It's fun, it's bright. It's got a distinct personality. You combine that kind of unique feel & tone with polished sound design and graphics and you get something that's pleasantly refreshing and engaging in a moment-to-moment play sense. One of my buddies was playing and commented on how he just really loved how the walking animations and step sound effects made playing each character stand out.
In Short:
It plays well. It's polished. It's got a lot of personality. It's refreshingly bright and colourful in a sea of gruff voiced dudes in rusty burnt-out landscapes taking themselves way too seriously.

Had a great overtime game last night, the kind where it's take and hold with the percentages.. we were both at 99% and it seemed like Overtime lasted a good 5 minutes with a pretty big epic battle but we managed to win somehow in the end. I was just flying all over rocketing everything that was red but the person that the D Va on our team won it for us by making her mech blow up and take out like 5 bad guys, she got the little MVP video at the end too

What little I've played so far I've liked, although with Zarya I like her (physically) strong woman theme but her weapons and abilities seemed themed around particle and gravity which I don't think meshes well with the character's background. I wish she had a kit that emphasized her physical
strength more, like a gravitational area around her that sucks enemies towards her so can beat them with physical strength.

The fuss, as I see it, is about the sheer volume of options you have at any given moment.
I played a Watchpoint Gibraltar map last night, on attack. I had a choice of 21 characters to go with. My wife chose Genji (who she loves for some reason) and I took D.Va. We chose to exit out of the left as it's rarely guarded and the bulk of our team was going out the main exit. She then chose to immediately wall climb the first building, then double jump up past the barrier to get the drop on a Hanzo that was sniping our main exit. Meanwhile I circled around and then used my jet pack to fly up to the second building. Zipped through and caught a Widowmaker also sniping on a bridge. At short range she doesn't last long against D.Va. From that point I rained down fire on their team from the back, as did my wife forcing their tank to either wear damage in the rear or turn his shield.
When their team did turn on me that was cool, I just used my defense matrix and took almost no damage- but my team got a breather and they made some progress while I drew fire. That is, after all, my role as tank. I fell back and continued to harass them. When Reinhart came up to my position, shield up, I had the choice of falling back, jumping down into the fray or falling back. I chose to fall back, jetting to another platform the bulky Reinhart could not follow me to without a lengthy walk. He then chose to use his charge attack to move quickly to the next ramp so he could quickly get up to my position, at which point I knew I had him. His plan was obviously to advance on me and force me back into his team or smash me with his giant, rocket powered hammer, safe behind his shield. But by using his charge attack up he took away a threat to me. So I advanced on him and taught him that D.Va can actually do knockbacks. I caught him coming up the ramp and smashed him and took myself over the edge of the map. But that's cool, I just turned around and flew back, just making it back at ground level.
And that's why it's great. You just don't know what's going to happen. Is Winston going to come bounding over the wall to smash into your lines, using his cone attack to hit multiple people safe in his bubble? Perhaps Genji has snuck over a barrier and is going for the objective. Hell, Reaper may have simply teleported right through your line of sight and is about to royally mess up your entrenched Bastion. Perhaps the team has stacked Pharahs and is about to rain down rockets from above. Maybe you've got a great defense set up with Widowmaker and Hazo and a harassing Tracer, all being kept up by Mercy or Lucio passively. But then Zarya puts a shield on McCree- so he can't be just picked off as he wanders out- and it's High Noon...
Hell there's a gif going around at the moment of a Lucio kill on Zarya that is pure gold. Zarya (a tank) is holding a zone that is next to a large round hole- like a giant well. What does Lucio, the support medic do? He doesn't bother trying to out gun her, because he can't. He jumps into the well- which is lethal usually- and then proceeds to use his wall skate ability to skate around the inside of the well. He pops up on the other side, behind the tank and uses his short range defensive knockback to push her into the hole. That's an amazing play. And the game is full of those. Hell last night my wife trolled an enemy team by sneaking her ninja onto the objective through a high window, using her saber reflect on the damage they front loaded and then scampering back up the wall and out the same way. When they came around the long way to get her she just scarpered back onto the objective, keeping our team in the game until we arrived. Sure we still lost but that was awesome to see.
But it's not just what you can do, it's what your opponent can do. The problems you face are just a varied and changing. Winston smashing into your lines won't last long if a smart Hazo has used his Dragon Eye arrow on the vulnerable stop and you know he's coming. Reaper will die very fast if he teleports behind your Bastion but into the LoS of Symmetra's defensive turrets. Pharahs are dangerous in the air but Bastion will murder one in less than a second at long range. And that McCree about to unleash his ultimate can be entirely shut down but D.Va's defense grid, Winston's shield generator or Reinhart's barrier. But only if players are good enough to do it all- you'll need to bring more than just running about and shooting bullets skills to this game. Hell, only 6 of the 21 characters even have a conventional gun type weapon. I don't even know what Symmetra or Zenyatta are firing.
The game has some real depth to it because of these options and it never gets bogged down. If strategy A isn't working, there's B,C,D, E and more.
If this kind of stuff bores you, well that's unfortunate for you. For many of us though it's extremely fun and pulling off a special new kind of kill is very rewarding.

I just love going around as Mei. I seem to piss off lots of enemies with her. Freezing people and then headshotting them feels so rewarding.
I do think the dwarf's turret needs a bit of work... mainly on its turning speed. It instantly does a 180 as soon as you pop out to flank. Giving you no chanse. It's infuriating if you're on your own.

Mei is easily countered by Tracer, Pharah and Reaper. Tracer can just recall or blip out of the freeze, Pharah can launch or knockback and Reaper can break the freeze with wraith form. Then finish her off as she is almost certainly already wounded .
That said, Mei IS really annoying when she gets the drop on you, when you are just not fast enough to get away or don't have anything. The fact her attack goes right through shields is super annoying too. And the ice wall... ugh that is so annoying. And oh man that ultimate...
But by far the most frustrating thing about her is my personal inability to use her well.

Mei counters Reaper hard. He needs to break the freeze with the wraith form before he is fully frozen, but Mei can recover her HP with an ice block and freeze him again.
Tracer counters everything (well, almost - a set-up Torbjörn is easy bait for her ultimate but otherwise works) so no surprises there.

*Sometimes* I can break Roadhog's chain/face blast with a Tracer zip, wraith form (or Genji's dash swipe) but not always. It's frustrating because I'm not sure if bad Roadhog player or laggy connection to the US servers...
Tracer isn't made to take down Roadhog though. She's made the threaten unattended objectives or flank snipers and defense heroes. That said I quite enjoy her. Last night I ran into a team that had two Tracers, which gave the perception she was everywhere. I'm pretty sure I engaged them both (unsuccessfully every time) on several occasions. Keeping track of one Tracer can be hard enough, two is downright horrible. Got her, oh she recalled? She should be over- nope she's over there! Argh that hurt! She blipped right- wait why is she on my left?! Ow ow ow HOW IS SHE ON MY RIGHT AGAIN!?
Still I don't think she's OP or anything.

We'll find out soon enough eh.

Honestly I thought I'd like Tracer a lot more than I do, but I find I prefer playing Lucio - he has less "burst" in terms of movement and damage, but he's consistently quick and the combination of wallriding and his knockback pulse make him just as much of a pain for the enemy team to deal with, and he can heal/buff as a bonus.
It seems like Tracer is very very useful in a small handful of specific circumstances(certain map chokepoints, as a hard-counter to a small number of other characters), but I feel I can take Lucio against almost any enemy team comp and in almost every circumstance and do well.
I especially don't get those Youtubers who insist Lucio is bad at fighting - sure, he's not Widowmaker in damage terms, but he'll wreck your face quicker than most of the tanks.

I've stopped playing it the last two days, not because its bad, but sudden realisation its beta, and the unlocks are all going to go bye bye.. would drive me nuts if something I got in beta takes months to unlock when the game hits due to random loot.. bit like Tracers pink suit version.
From my play time though I have no issues leaving my preorder in place and will look forward to launch eagerly.

Yeah I haven't been playing it heavily for the same reason. But enjoying it and looking forward to the real game. I played at least 1 game with each character and some of them I just have no idea what's going on. Like the robot guy that makes orbs or whatever. Guess I should use practice mode to figure them all out.
D. Va was pretty fun, I used her a bunch last night, and Tracer & Reaper too. But I think Tracer is also my arch nemisis, she's nasty in the hands of someone that knows how she works. Betcha people whine till her skills are nerfed away.

Widowmaker really appeals to me. The cold hearted female sniper is like my ultimate obsession, but the exaggerated S-curve via arching the hell out of her back, absolute cleavage, and pants up the crack just ruin it. Why can't she be relatively normal?

Just because that she isn't normal... Really?

Poor ignorant guardsmen, it be but one of many of the great miracles of the Emperor! The Emperor is magic, like Harry Potter, but more magic! A most real and true SPACE WIZARD! And for the last time... I'm not a space plumber.

Use one of the other skins? You're not going to be able to change the base model/pose, but the Huntress skin changes the outfit in a way that addresses your objections.
