I actually really like Zarya's "Brick" recolor, and it's not even Rare. There's a couple other basic recolours that are pretty neat, too.

But yeah, some I prefer the Rares to the Legendaries as well. Soldier and Reinhard, especially. (I like Lionhardt and Stonehardt alright, but wish he had helmets or helmet options). But for Symmetra and, I think, Pharah, I actually just like their recolors.

Care to elaborate further than a simple statement?

It just does nothing for me. I guess I am not really a fan of arena shooter/TF2 type games. The characters were ok, it took me a while to find one that I found interesting.

While changing characters throughout a match was nice not having a limit on multiple characters made matches really un-fun.

I enjoyed Battleborn's level up & helix system for every match more than just charging up an ultimate. Being able to change how your character plays every match keeps them from feeling one dimensional like the Overwatch characters do.

You know this is actually a pretty fair argument against Overwatch; personally I like having zero game progression as I feel like games make progression to unlock items (such as weapons/characters - anything that actually contributes to manipulating game mechanics) is just more red tape that I have to jump over to get to things I want. However I understand that a lot of people enjoy these progression systems in other games as they give them a chance to tailor their playstyles. Overwatch I feel is fresh as it simply says "this is how the characters play, end of" and relies on a large roster to cater to everyone's playstyles (though really you should be familiar with a lot of characters in the game), but I get how this can split opinions, and for fair reasons.

The thread was just discussing about hero spam - I agree with you that it's not particularly fun after a few times of experiencing it, as it neuters the diversity of the cast and, in the extreme, makes gameplay very bland and repetitive. However, Competitive Mode has a 1 hero limit throughout, but that mode is fraught with other issues.

Overwatch characters are deliberately one dimensional, while Battleborn allows for customisation that affects the game through the gear system. Wouldn't blame anyone for picking one ideal over the other, or neither at all.

Thanks for explaining yourself anyway - for a moment I thought you were a typical "I'll just post a bland statement why I hate this with no explanation to annoy people who enjoy the game" type

Yeah some recolors are much nicer than the rares and legendary.

I really like the jackal skin for pharah. but got white and red version of rain dancer which i like (though i basically never play her )

I also really like the scientist version of symmetra for the legendary (the purple one and not the god ones)

The only skins that i really wish i had gotten from the origin pack is tracer and bastion. maybe reaper too whom i dont play much.

O well :/

Speaking of "Hero Spam", just had a game last night where 3 of us happened to choose Tanks at the same time- we started switching out, but then I just went, "So, all tanks?"- we ended up with one of each tank, plus Lucio (so not really Hero spam, more... Class Spam?). Crushed the enemy team- they were just NOT expecting a Tank Rush.

It was only for that one game, and the other team, luckily, didn't get butthurt over it. But it was fun. Got a 'chieve for it, too.

I don't have a problem with class spam really, it's hero spam that gets to me because the enemy team will have the same counter characters, whereas a team of Tanks does not.

I wouldn't be too annoyed if I got rolled by a heavy class team, as it is probably my team's fault for not changing up to adapt to that; while focusing on one hero class can make for very strong combos, they are extremely brittle, hence why more balanced teams are and always have been favoured.

Can't wait for the competitive season to start again, competitive people need their own place to play. Games are so aggressive against those people.

Finally tried Ana. Lots of fun, but so difficult to be reliable. Please, someone pick another healer, I feel so useless when I'm the only healer as Ana!

Don't worry about it - mine's a lot worse I think. At the end of the day, you can't win games reliably without a good team of players, which is almost entirely down to chance when you play with pubbies; even if you're all good, your comp could be bad or you could have bad communication and overall chemistry (Players of equal level my arse Blizzard). It's why I never took part in Competitive, as that is on extreme levels of terribad for solo queues.

I'd love to get a team together with you lot sometime, just trying to scrape enough money together to pay rent and get a PC to play in my own time rather than leeching off others for Overwatch juice. Still, I like Quick Play because if we lose, I can just shrug and go "ah well"; Competitive will turn me into a whole other beast I think

Going to get GTX 1070 next month, we can try playing then, if anyone is interested. Having more people to play is always nice.

Their pairing system is really screwed up, I've been noticing that I'm in more and more games with players that have 2-3 stars under their name tag which means they've leveled up 100 for each star. I just broke 79 which sure as heck doesn't seem like it'd be on par with somebody who's level 40 with two stars. (level 240) I know that the levels are mostly just an indicator of time put in but jeez...

I don't think rank is ever taken into consideration - it's more based off your stats in game. Still, we have no idea what stats these are, and they clearly don't work as they often result in creating teams that clearly have skill gaps between eachother. Still, in that same regard, I've been matched as a rank 14 to people with stars and some people well into the 70's, and we've had good balanced games. Hell most of the time I'm far and away the lowest rank player on both teams, so it has to be based around my career records rather than that.

lol Nice

i just got my self a MSI GTX 1070 my self on a new rig. its very nice

also as for pairing. im pretty sure the match ups are not based off the numbers them selves but some hidden data like w/l ratios or what not. not based on time played which doesnt really tell you much about skill, but more that a person has spent a gak ton of time playing.

I now know what people mean when they see team quality can vary wildly in quick play (and why win ratios can easily get skewed there).

I had a match on Dorado where my entire team (barring Genji) decided to go flank instead of pushing the payload. So it was me (Mercy) and Genji pushing the payload, while both our tanks, sniper, and other dps insisted on flanking. None of them touched the payload for the entire round. I have no idea how I won that game

Yup, it really does vary; yesterday I did a full round of Temple of Anubis - Defence was quite scary for a minute as nobody fell back to Objective B when they knew that A was lost, which left me to fend off a Soldier and Genji as D.VA for a good 30 seconds before they got back and helped out. After winning the Defence, ironically (and hilariously) we won on attack in 2 minutes as the enemy team also made the exact same mistake, only they didn't have anyone on Objective B when I capped it as Tracer with a Genji and won the round.

How people still don't know what to do on Anubis at "my level" is beyond me. Or Blizzard need to fix their matchmaking system pronto.

They need to fix the system anyway. At least half of my games devolve into either my team or the enemy team getting completely curbstomped, and that REALLY shouldn't happen this often

Couldn't agree with you more - would also be nice if the game didn't keep throwing me into a game already in progress on a map I just did over and over, and then giving me a leavers penalty when I don't want to play in it. That I find extremely frustrating

I had games where a defence on our side faltered within 30 seconds. It would be nice, if the game then wouldn't decide to simply swap sides, considering how big of a stomp it was.

Is Ana supposed to be a sniper or mid ranged fighter? I find that I often need to get closer to the fray, either there's no other healer and combat is happening outside my line of sight or I can't find a good spot to abuse.

She's classed as a Sniper, and there are a lot of maps that have chokes or winding paths that prevent her from engaging at long range; in those circumstances, she has to get as close as possible - about 20 metres behind her team should be enough before you're too close and vulnerable.

Keep in mind that her rifle is just as accurate when you fire it from the hip, the only difference between hip fire and scoped fire is that scoped shots travel instantly and have a trace so people can see where you are

She's in an interesting place- she can do the role of a sniper- waiting very far back and taking the needed shots- with both her main weapon and her sleep dart. Her Ultimate can also target from a good distance, and is hitscan too, I think, if the target isn't blocked.

But then, her grenade and the fact that she's a Healer both make it so that you want to be up close to your team. Also, since she can't headshot, waiting for single, perfect shots isn't as viable either. Plus, without any movement abilities, she's stuck to ground positions, and many of the favored Sniping positions (with good visibility and, well, overwatch) can't be reached by her.

Basically, just play around with her. I know some like to use her as a sticky brawler, while I know I tend to do well as a mid-distance support- I focus on heals and buffs, others focus on damage and debuffs. It's either or.

One thing, though- don't just blast off the sleep dart willy nilly- it's perfect for sticking an Ulting Winston, McCree or Roadhog (or Pharah) and stopping them cold.

Wish her draw animation would happen a bit faster, feels like it's taking ages for her to draw it. I'm getting used to simply shoot at ulting McCree. Team usually runs for cover but his health isn't that high, feel it's better to simply shot McCree, if you're caught somewhere in the open. Might as well take some of his HP away.

The problem I get with Ana is that her bullets don't go through fully healed allies. Since she's a sniper, she doesn't want to be at the front, but being at the back or on a vantage point means your allies will overlap each other. Of course the people at the front take damage the most, yet they're the people most likely to get blocked, and they may end up dying as a result. Her AoE heal does slightly help, but she needs to get closer for her healing to be consistant.

If you can't believe in yourself, believe in me! Believe in the Dakka who believes in you!

I think the draw is that slow to allow you to lead your shot first, since the dart doesn't travel as fast as a regular sniper rifle round.

I've found that low hanging walls and even the payload come in handy to dodging McCree and Deadeye - one of the few times I've ever used crouching in this game

Had such a pleasant games two days ago. Two tanks and two healers and on average we did great. Yesterday it was back to eternal struggle of a team comp not having a single tank and a healer.

I really hope Reinhardt's skin is going to draw more people in picking a tank. I'd laugh when the team blames the solo tank for not pushing into suicidal hot spot, while they're hiding in the back and not taking any risks. It's gotten old by now, truth be told.

When I play Bastion or Zenyatta I love, love, love when a Reinhardt helps cover me from all the snipers. But sadly it doesn't happen all that often as most people I get grouped with seem to prefer other tanks. D'VA seems to be hugely popular and I'm in a lot of games where there's two per side sometimes even three, which is like ugh...

Sometimes I like to play Reinhardt on escort missions but when I do nobody ever hangs back to take advantage of my shield they all just run forwards and get blown to shreds where if they hang back they could shoot through the shield and rack up kills without constantly dying and they'd also be helping the team get the payload across the map faster. I can't move any faster, I would if I could, but everyone just races ahead and dies immediately meanwhile I'm plodding along with a full strength shield because all the action is taking place well out of reach and it's like wtf.

You can jetslam from time to time to try and keep up but it never lasts for more a few seconds and everyone has raced ahead again.

However I played in a game where the enemy team had an absolutely amazing Reinhardt player who had a 38-0 kill streak, I have no idea how he could play it that well but he was unstoppable and basically won the entire game by himself as he was killing our team as fast as we could respawn and couldn't get anywhere near close enough to the objective to defend it, we got rolled so badly.

I main Reinhardt, but I also have a core team and do swap around with all the tanks depending on whats needed. For pubs you need to start being the boss literally and coordinating the team. Also need ot start learning when to swap from him. If your getting flanked a lot and dying from tracers you should consider swapping to Roadhog. Or if there's a lot of non dva tanks Roadhog is a good counter to them. I only play with people 55+ on my team. I don't know what that will translate too in season 2.
