Where ya place?
Honestly comp is pointless besides bragging rights and a gold gun. but you can have fun in a more structured setting compaired to herostacking qp
speaking of bragging i hit diamond this season and i got enough CP finally to get my second gold gun probably chucking it on tracer.
cool grats man.
I'm really low... just started comp today... only like 1700s... was having okay matches after that last placement match... up until maybe 10 minutes ago... some real uptight folks... I love how people feel they can 'read' some perceived emotion from text haha. They were pressing me to get on the team chat channel which I didn't know how to do... I got on and explained I had no mic... then they felt the need to explain that I need to expect people to be mean... like there was something i must have said that caused them to think they needed to explain this haha... there was other stuff too that really did not leave me with a good feeling.
Honestly between 'quick play' and 'competitive' it almost feels like picking the lesser of 2 evils haha... do you want donkey-caves? or do you want donkey-caves with cool portrait borders?
I wish multiplier gaming was still going to your friend's house to play Double Dribble or Blades of Steel on their Nintendo.

A week or two ago I had an *extremely* long wait time while attempting to do non-competitive PvP. After several minutes, I quit and gave up.
My suspicion is that there's a bug that occasionally places you outside of the waiting list even though it says that you're in.
That seems to be the case. I got 3 of my placement matches in just fine today. You guys are right though, solo queuing sucks. I did that for my third match (my group mates for the first two games had errands to run), and it was horrible. We had one guy screaming incoherently in Korean for most of the match (who coincidentally, played nothing but Genji), a guy making sheep noises the whole game (with occasional giggled words in Korean) and a third guy who screamed racial slurs at the first two guys

I just play Lucio now if I'm playing in Comp... I don't even bother asking... If I want to try some of the other characters I just go back to quick play. It kind of sucks because I can play a pretty good widowmaker... and have pulled off some good plays in a comp game... but it seems everyone's default reaction to her, no matter what map type, is 'no pls why!'
Also last night I tried out the Brawl again... this time on medium... it was pretty fun... played Ana and managed to keep everyone alive. Even killed Reaper a couple times.
A good widow is a good widow. and in certain parts of the maps can be critical for a push. get one or two support picks in the back can allow your whole team to push in.
as it is though, people dont like her because she is literally hit or miss.
you could always try ana if you like the whole sniper thing. the DPS not up front but over time but a good ana can deal a dumb amount of damage while healing the team.
Ana's mainly more consistent because you can hip fire, much like you can with McCree's Peacemaker. You just have to keep in mind that hip firing with her rifle means the projectile travels slower - it's not hit scan like it is when scoped.
Widowmaker has a lot of good countering abilities (she's especially great against most of the Tanks), but often people would prefer an Ana as their team Sniper rather than Widowmaker or Hanzo, despite both of those being able to deal much more damage to the enemy; Ana takes both a Healer and a Sniper role, whereas they can only do the sniping.
I have typically stayed away from Snipers; Lucio is usually my go to for Support since I don't really have to worry about how much damage I'm doing most of the time

I'm trying to learn Widow a little better- tweaked my settings on her for faster aim and a better color for the reticule (I'm slightly colorblind, but really don't like the colorblind options, even if they do help a lot). I only really use her on Defense, though (well, usually). I've found that Hollywood, sticking her on the upper platform at the first point is incredible, and in London she's pretty nice at the underground gateway chokepoint.

I haven't used the colourblind options myself - I've found pink is the best colour for the reticule as it contrasts with pretty much everything, though I don't know what colour that would be to you
Its funny though widow is in defense she is much better as on attack.
often the attack spawn is closer if you die or the team comp is no good for you, you can switch faster, as well the enemy is usually in very predictable spots.
I managed to get three triple kills with D.va's ult today. So frickin' close to getting that achievement....

Mei and Hanzo's through terrain supers are starting to grate on me. They are both potent heroes without ignoring terrain, but MEI's blizzard through walls is a bit broken and Hanzo's never stops dragon is just annoying.
I'm of the opinion that Mei players just want to watch the world burn, despite her sweet appearance. They look so sweetly at you before they freeze you, and they continue to look sweet as they shoot you in the head repeatedly.

They did this to stop characters like Reindhart and Winston whiffing the ult by just letting it bounce off their shields. Wasn't aware that it can travel through solid walls now, though

We Mei players do love to watch the world burn. Ironic really, considering Mei uses Ice weaponry
Best part of playing Mei is punching someone after they're frozen, killing them and going "sorry, sorry! I'm so sorry!"

At least on the Xbox One it's going through solid walls. Illios and the Lijiang maps I've had it nail me when it's dropped inside the capture rooms and I'm on the outside, with a wall between me and it (such as the round temple of heaven, when I run around the side to hide from it. Winston, at least, should stop it while his barrier is up. That thing has a horridly long cool down vs how short it stays up.

Ohhh, I thought you meant the projectile as Mei tosses Snowball at someone! My mistake
Yeah, the actual AoE will travel through walls - this is to stop the Ultimate from being really weak in more tight areas where it could be limited by many objects in the way of its total radius. Annoying, yes, but necessary to stop Mei's Ultimate from being too situational to be good. The actual projectile has also been made so that it can travel through Reindhart and Winston's shields before it activates, to stop those two Tanks from stopping the Ult from working.

And yet they didn't stop D.Va's shield eat the ultimate or Genji deflect it.

That's a bit of a weird one, yes; in fact, if Genji deflects it, apparently the Blizzard goes to the Genji's team.
I suppose they designed it that way so that it does have some counters, since almost every Ultimate has a counter in one or more of the Heroes. Probably a welcome relief, given that the PTR has increased the Blizzard radius.

Genji deflect has to be relatively precise and super close range at the time to do it.
Dva also needs to be relatively short mid rage and needs to be DMing to eat it. also most meis if they see DM will just throw it straight down at the ground to avoid her eating it d.va was point blank DM ing her. d.va cant hold down DM forever so i can see why they let her be able to do it
same with genji
Hanzo's arrow takes some skill to know where you can deflect it as it has a small travel time as an arrow before it explodes into the dragon.

You mean "press Deflect as you hear her start to talk".

With the fact that she can now DM much quicker, it needs to be removed. She shouldn't be able to do anything but reduce the damage like Reinhardt. She can already suck up too many supers as is(Graviton and Dragon Arrow)
same with genji

Dragon Arrow can't be deflected by Genji unless there's some kind of bug allowing for it.

If dva loses DM's ability to delete projectiles then dva has absolutely nothing. she would be a terrible winston. her Damage is low, she cant move when shooting and she has a massive crit box effectively making her a 250 hp character.
Also for hanzo's ulti there is a very short period of time that his arrow travels as a regular projectile before it becomes a dragon. genji can deflect it at super close range before it becomes a dragon. same with dva eating it.
Dragon Arrow can't be deflected by Genji unless there's some kind of bug allowing for it.
Not by his regular Deflect ability, but by his Dragon Blade, he can. It's a little nod to the Dragons animated short
am i even playing the same game? o.o
Sorry again, thought you meant when the Arrow actually bursts into the Dragons, which Genji can actually deflect with his own Ultimate (supposedly that is, can't find where I found that little snippet)
He can definitely Deflect the initial projectile, as you said, although that is a little trickier:
It may be staggeringly clear that I don't play Genji - Tracer and Soldier 76 are my Offence choices

I just tried out Ana and holy feth is she fun to play. I get a vindictive sense of pleasure from sleep darting ulting McCrees, after I got sleep darted every time I used my McCree ult

There's a great gag going on in Overwatch at the moment with Ana and Halloween... I'll just let the video speak for itself
Ana really is a great Support character, if you can get her shots off well. Unfortunately, it seems that Blizzard want to remove the speed buff to her Nanoboost, which is likely to cause a massive decrease in her popularity again.
Ana must be one of the most constantly tweaked characters on the PTR; she's been nerfed, buffed, nerfed again and then buffed back up. Very odd indeed.
I think that dubious distinction belongs to McCree actually.
And I'm pretty happy with my accuracy. 72% unscoped and 58% scoped. It's her grenade I'm iffy with

That is a another good one - McCree is bad because he's basically in competition with Soldier 76; whenever one is nerfed, the other immediately becomes the more popular option. Blizzard really needs to sort those two out so they can be equally popular competitive choices. Same goes for quite a bit of the cast, honestly.
That's some decent accuracy you've got there - you'll get the hang of the grenade too, I'm sure
